How about slim fast?
You are always hungry on that stuff. Try Weight Watchers, at least you can eat food with that diet! By the way, Slim Fast gives you terrible gas! Sorry, but it's true. :) Lisa

I agree that Slim Fast does give problems with gas, but once your body gets used it, it is not as bad. Also, you can do Slim Fast for only one or two meals a day, and can still eat regular meals if you want to. One thing to be aware of with Slim Fast is the sugar content - this will prevent you from losing weight the right way.

what do you mean by the sugar content preventing you from losing weight the right way?

How about slim fast?
Slim fast is about the same calorie content as a glass of chocolate milk but it gives you better balance on calories. I tend to drink a can for lunch many days just because its easy when I don't have time to make lunch and it controls the calories and fills me up. I've never had gas problems from it, but I only have one can a day. I can't say that it's helped me lose weight, but it has kept me from gaining. If you read the fine print on all those weight-loss plans they all say 'Exercise and a sensible diet' and it's really the exercise that helps you lose. The foods just keep the calories in check so the exercise can get you to a calorie deficit which is what it takes to lose.

Minibride...
Sorry...what I meant was, if your calories from sugar are still high, you might not be getting enough vitamins and protein. Slim Fast is not a full, balanced meal. You have to supplement your diet with fresh fruits and veggies and protein, otherwise your body could rely on your existing muscle for protein and vitamins, and you won't lose fat. Karen H's post made some good points...you have to do everything in moderation and exercise for best results. Good luck!

I don't know how quickly you want to lose, but I have had great success with weight watchers. I lost about 30 lbs in 6 months. If you are looking to drop weight quickly it is probably not the way to go, but if you have some time I recommend it.

weight Watchers
i agree with the weight watchers also - i've been on it 2 weeks and lost 7.6 lbs already. the meetings are very important to help you stay focused. if you (or anyone) live near the plainview area, email if you want someone to go to meetings with.

Phunykay-good for you!!
I have been doing WW since the beginning of November. I lost 30 lbs and I agree that the meetings are important, they keep you more focused. I have not felt deprived at all with the food. Keep up the great work!!

Regarding Weight Watchers...
I tried to use my mom's book to do the points rather than going to the meeting myself and found it kind of a pain to count all the points. Is there a way you can do the point plan and have a set menu? I do a lot better with menu plans rather than so many choices.

WOW! Congrats to all of you that have lost weight! I did WW years ago and also lost. It is time to get back. Anybody go to the one on Old Country Road in Carle Place by The Wiz?

Regarding Weight Watchers...
It`s all about what`s good for you. For me, doing WW is about developing eating habits that are healthier and not feeling deprived. Of course I want the weight loss but I wanted something that could be integrated into my life. Shakes and strict diets don`t sound very appealing to me. But that's me. The WW meetings (as much as I hated them initially) are about trying to do it differently, getting support and listening to suggestions. The point counting can seem difficult in the beginning because it`s new behavior but after awhile, it got so much easier. You could certainly make a meal plan and eat the same things every week or even everyday if you go awry with too many choices. Good luck with whatever you choose.

ww and menus
the best thing for me was doing WW with a groups of friends at work..we helped each other and were responsible...If you want a little more structure with WW (b/c the point is the program allows you to each whatever you want - in moderation) buy the WW meals..even Lean Cuisine points WW points on their boxes.. good luck

re: kimberleeg
I saw you posted that you live in Massapequa. I used to go to WW and there is a meeting in Wantagh, pretty close by. It took me 8 minutes to get there from Merrick Rd. & Forest Ave. Anyway, it is in the Cherrywood Shopping Center on Wantagh Ave. The people were great there, I really liked going to those meetings. Good luck!

I go to the one in Wantagh also. I've only been doing this for one week and so far I've lost 3.8 points. Which meeting do you go to?

WW Online
I've been doing weight watchers online since I didn't have time to go to meetings and I've lost 12 pounds. It's really great and you can search for foods that you like to see how many points they are. Good luck!Welcome New Vendors
