We already lost electricity this morning, I had to scramble to find a flashlight and all my clothes, what a PIA, a powerline went down in town on top of a building, they had people trapped inside and couldn't get LIPA to get there butts down there. My brother is a volunteer firefighter, so I got to hear all the details which is handy b/c that's my usual way to work. I hope this doesn't get much worse.

Re: How about this weather
Its dangerous!! Besides the fact that I almost got blown across a busy street by the wind, its actually warm when the rain isnt hitting you in the face...
What a mixture...

I heard that tractor trailer trucks are not allowed on the bridges into and out of NYC until the wind dies down.

I work on the 40th Floor and the building creaks in the wind. It's eerie. I think the wind must've just died down a bit because there's a bit of silence.

Re: How about this weather
I only walk 2 avenues over from Penn Station, but it's towards the Hudson River. My umbrella is somewhat busted from all the wind! My pants are wet, my hair is wet and I feel like I smell like wet dog! Blah.

I hear you, I currently live in Hoboken, 2 blocks from the river, and work downtown, the walking part of my commute is through a huge wind tunnel.
Big fan of the dual layer umbrellas, they seem to take a beating and bounce back somewhat. The totes storm beater has been my favorite so far (today I just didn't even bother and used my hood, glad my hair didn't look nice to begin with!)

Re: How about this weather
I can't even get into work yet because trees are down on my metro north line. I might attempt at 11 or so to go in (currently there are 90 minute delays).

My boss usually takes the New Haven line from White Plains. So when I got here today and she was in the office, I asked her about it. Just so happens she drove in today and didn't even know about the delays. I was sort of looking forward to her not being in!

Had she taken the train, she still wouldn't be in.
Scattered local service has been restored. Looks like I'm going to leave around 11.

I guess we got lucky, there was no rain by me when we left, but a LOT of traffic everywhere!!
It's also strange that it's windy but warm!!

I heard they closed the Verrazano Bridge because it was too windy. Of course they decide to close it after I cross over to Brooklyn, so typical!!

I walk thru the same kind of wind tunnel as you...Are you referring to the one next to the WTC?

No, I work in Chase Plaza and once I hit Liberty or Cedar Streets, I have to put down my umbrella, I figure I'm going to get soaked regardless, might as well not worry about fighting with it!
