how accurate are the measurements when ordering BM dresses?

how accurate are the measurements when ordering BM dresses?

I am in a BP..the women measured me... i am just curious if they are really true to the chart that they measure you by, or are they bigger/smaller....

any thoughts?

Well, I dont know about all dresses but I think it depends on the cut. The dress that we chose was a size 8 in the sample. My sis is usually a 6 or an 8 and the 8 just fit her. We went to the place to get measured and they said she should get a 6. Well the 8 fit and I know a smaller size wouldnt fit. Same for my FSIL and when we went to the store the 8 just fit and the salon wanted to order her a 6 too!! I got into a little argument over it and told them to order a size up for everyone. They made me write it it writing that I wanted to order a size up!!! They said if the dresses were too big we would have to pay more in altering than the $40 cap!! I thought rather order up and be on the safe side! So IMO if a doubt order one size up!

That's odd, in most cases I've had to fight for a smaller size!

The size charts for all different designers are so completely different it's hard to tell! RK posts most of the size charts that you can reference and get an idea of the sizes.

I'm a size 6 and my wedding dress was a 14! I fit into the 12, but they insisted that if I didn't order the 14, that I would have to sign a form releasing them from any liability, so I got the 14 as they suggested. It arrived and they had to take it in significantly. I swear they did that just so they could charge me more $$ for additional alterations.

My bridesmaids' dresses were ordered based upon bust, waist and hip measurements (not 6, 8, etc.). All of those measurements were higher than their real ones, because all of the dresses needed to be taken in.
