So my friend at work had a baby in November, and recently started working again. Apparently she sent me a bunch of emails about going out to lunch and I never responded (because I never got the emails). So I called the computer people, and apparently our server went down in December, and all my email forwarding rules got deleted. So over 1000 emails never reached my inbox. So I go to read them all and apparently I missed a meeting with the CHAIR OF OUR DEPARTMENT in January regarding organizing a recruiting session for incoming students. Luckily the meeting was with other members of the organizing committee, but how embarassing! I wrote him a very apologetic email.
