If a married couple:

Mr. and Ms. John and Jen Smith

If not married:

Mr. John Smith and Ms. Jen Jones.

I just prefer 'Ms.' to Mrs.'

I think i am doing Joe & Jenn Smith. Shawn has family with the same first and last names, so if we do spouses name too, they will know who we are talking about and because our inside envelopes were less formal too they said Joe and Jane

For married couples I am putting, Mr. & Mrs. John Smith. For someone bringing a guest who I am aware of the name of the guest I am putting Mr. John Smith & Miss or Ms. Mary Jones. For a person bringing a guest who I am not aware of the name I am putting Mr. John Smith & Guest.

Personally I would not put 'Ms.' for a married woman. The title 'Ms.' to me seems more related to a single girl, who perfers to not be called Miss. A married woman might find it insulting that she is not being called by her proper title. I can see a single girl wantingto be called 'Ms.', (though I was always proud to be called Miss, it sounds younger to me!) A Married woman might not like. Just a thought.

Actually, 'Ms.' was originally a title used by married women who preferred not to use 'Mrs.' The term came into general use with the popularity of Ms. magazine - founded by Gloria Steinem. The term is used for married and unmarried women and is the equivalent to 'Mr.' which is used for married and unmarried men.

. . I do agree that a number of married women might prefer to be called 'Mrs.' though. My mom and all of my aunts and married friends never use Mrs.

To each her own
