Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
I'll join them, we want everyone in our wedding to have a blast. we have a shuttle to the hotel, if they don't have a sober ride home, I'll put them on the shuttle.

I was fortunate not to have a problem with drunk people making arse's out of themselves. HOWEVER, rather than deal with that possibility myself, I told my BM that I gave him the right to have poorly behaved guests removed from the premises. If it happened, I didn't want to know about it.
good idea, although I don't know if any of my bm's will be sober enough to make that kind of decision about anyone else
I think that 'BM' stood for 'banquet manager' in this case, maybe?
I hope he/she is sober?
I DID mean Banquet Manager. He was there for every minute and was 100% sober!

I don't know - I'm VERY worried about my Dad's drinking getting out of control at both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding
I understabd exactly what your saying. He 'behaved' well at my engagement party...but it still makes me nervous - I just don't want any scenes!

We are shutting down the 'bar' an hour before we have to leave. It's about an hour's drive to civilization from the park, so we want everyone sober to go home.

I feel your pain. I won't mention who but they're part of FH 'close' family and I have spoken to FH about it and he is going to have a couple of people watch out for these particular people. I spoke to the BM and he said 'don't worry about it, we'll take care of everything, if something happens I'll make sure you won't know a thing until afterwards' Which is what I want. I don't want to worry or deal with it then. I want to enjoy our wedding day.

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
We have a few close family memebers and friends to be on the look out for so we have plans in place (sober watchers who aren't drinking cause they are driving) They are going to make sure those 'out of hand' drunks are just funny drunks! I will not let that be one of the things that stresses me out!!!!!!!!!
I personally have a tendency to get totally wasted at weddings and I honestly don't remember my sister's in 2000 at Crest Hollow!!!! I do remember taking my stockings off to go for a swim in their pool!! but FH was there to stop me aka the responsible one that night.
I have this saying that when it comes to a big events everyone should enjoy and drink up! This is the time not every other night of the week!!! So I want everyone to drink responsiblly but bottom line have tons and tons of fun!!!!!!! At midnight I'm allowed to start drinking too!!! Yeah!!!

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
I may have the same issue...half the wedding is going to be FI military friends and my fire dept. friends....may have to have them removed if they get to wild...usually at parties though we don't have a problem and they get drunk but not nuts.

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
Our wedding was definitely a party...esp. with the firehouse, cop and college crowds.
To be honest, you don't really realize when people are very drunk...I did see a BM get half carried out of the room at the end of the night, but that made me laugh....to bad I didn't think to take a pic of that!
If something really bad happened (i.e. they fall on the floor in front of you)...then I would be upset.... but otherwise, enjoy the night!

You have to learn that you can't be responsible for other peoples actions as embarassing as they might be. Trust that your hall will take care of any problems and don't worry about it.

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
My dad's side of the family usually causes a scene at weddings and I've spoken to the manager at our reception site and he's put me at ease.... I will give the wait staff a heads-up to who may be a problem at the reception and they will serve them table-side instead of letting them go up to the bar. This way, the 'trouble' guests get their own waiter who will ask the bartender to pull back on the alcohol in a mixed drink (ie, put more coke than rum in a rum and coke) so by the end of the night they're drinking straight coke and have no idea because the guests believe they're being treated like royalty with personal wait service. Our BM has assured me that if anyone gets out of hand, their wait staff will handle it discretely and appropriately so that I will never know about it. Knowing that all our guests will be respected and have a good time really sets my mind at ease and will allow me to enjoy the day - you wouldn't believe the scene my dad caused at my bro's wedding - it was a nightmare! Ask your BM to help you - it's part of their job to help the party run smoothly for you!

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
I think the biggest thing is to have a shuttle or make sure there are sober drivers to get people home. We also have a few police officers that will be guest but I don't know how sober they will be! All in all the hall becomes responsible if anyone gets hurt so the bartenders should keep an eye on people and cut them off if need be.

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
I hope everyone will be good, but for those that I'm worried about, I can't even ask them to be good because then they might be worse on purpose!!!
In all honestly, I think I'll be too busy and too happy to notice!

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
There were a lot of guests 'overserved' at our wedding.....one of our GM fell asleep after drinking too much scotch, so my hubby smacked him in the head and woke him up! He got right up and danced until the end of the night...that's a funny story to tell.
I wouldn't worry about it, someone else (BM, family member, etc) will take care of an overly drunk guest.

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
My hall requests that we designate someone for them to contact to handle any issue.... Like an obnoxious drunk guest or anything that may arise...
My mom volunteered for the job.. .she doesn't want anyone to ruin the day and she wants to make sure it's handled properly..

Re: How are you going to handle drunk guests
well, we will be dumping them into roslyn harbor with weights around their ankles....hee. i hadn't thought about it....most of my family have all stopped drinking, even at weddings, due to health...though none of them will admit it's for their health.
