How are you ladies doing your wedding invitations?

I was just pricing out wedding invitations on Magnetstreet & can't believe for 100 its $315 bucks, is there anyway to do it cheaper. I wanted to try & match my save the dates but I'm having a heart attack at some of the prices I'm seeing. I think I need a time-out! lol

3.15 an invite is not so bad (depending on what kind you're getting!) I am semi DIY-ing my invites. My friend designed them. I'm having a place print and cut them for me - then I'm setting them on pocketfolds and assembling the inserts. It's costing me about 3.60 an invite for everything.

I started looking at these a lil bit and sadly she is right. I think that's about the cheapest you can find them. Unless someone else knows of a good deal?

I got paper from Michaels (while on sale) and am making my own. I am getting the envelopes online cause I can't find parchment paper envelopes in the right size that I am looking for. I think I am gonna end up with paying under $100 for about 250 invites.... of course this doesn't include the price of ink or postage, but since I am printing everything up in black and white, it won't be too bad.

I guess that's about right because the ones I'm looking at are about $2.50 each. They are very simple, just one card and they are from Wedding Paper Divas. I guess that doesn't include the direction card and RSVP cards though... I'm not sure, I haven't looked recently. I'm just doing something simple though, but if you are good, you can DIY some really nice invites!

A friend of mine designed and had the invites (and other stationary) printed.

This is almost exactly what I'm doing! With everything, including the pocketfolds, 3 inserts and and envelopes it came out to about $1.15/invite (for 100) and it really wasn't difficult to design on Microsoft Word. I think I'm going to go to Michaels and get some pretty stickers or ribbon to close them, but when it comes to invites there is no point spending a ton of money on something that will get thrown away :)

I actually bought the vellum paper also to close the pocketfolds with and then went to staples and bought the oval stickers and made a cut design on those. It's exactly what magnet street offered for a lot less and I def. have the time to print it all out and cut it down.

$3.15 per invite isn't too bad. I'm paying around $7-8 for mine I had a friend who paid $25 per invite for 100 (and she bough them stretching her budget extremely- Champagne taste on a Beer Budget, )

Remember if you do them yourself you'll save a little, but remember you'll have to add the price of ink, additional paper (in case you make a mistake), decorative accents (like ribbon, bling) etc. Also are you sure you need 100 invites? You only need that many if you're expecting to have around 200 guest. So maybe you won't need to order as many and that can save you money. Hope that helps!

This is why IDK if I can DIY. I would prolly make too many mistakes for it to be worth it. I saw a couple of versions on weddingpaperdivas.com that were cute and can come printed for $3/invite. I was in Michaels today and they had a lot of nice, simple invites but there are so many pieces that need to be printed. Ugh. I figure I got time. I'll prolly be using my Christmas $ to pay for the printing!

Re: How are you ladies doing your wedding invitations?

Thanks to FH and his Bridezilla ways out invites are $10 each and shipping is like $2.50 each! We are getting them done custom and they are really looking gorgeous on the drafts I see so I cant wait to get one and those were like $6 each because they come in a box. WELL NOOOOOW he saw a damn scroll invite that come in a freakin metal tube in a box and he wants that and they are $10 each! There is not telling him that no one keep the invites (although I wouldn’t throw out a beautifully designed metal tube because you can put a diploma or birth certificate in it). I wanted a card with a rhinestone buckle and a box. Ok, that’s one thing. But a box you open with a scroll inside that you open and stuff to me is crazy. He ordered samples and if its insane I’m gonna tell him where to shove his idea. He watches tv shows and goes over the top! The scroll is made out of fabric by the way! Really? People are going to expect us getting married at a castle!

That's amazing! We used a free template download and VistaPrint and I thought doing our invites for $200 was good!
