i think you ask your florist to include 2 extra loose ones so you dont pull apart your whole bo-k.
you would probably do it during the ceremony. i guess if you are doing the unity candle right after the unity candle.
i'll ask my friend how her sister did it.

Re: HOw are you making your CERMONY unique?
in lieu of the candle lighting, I placed two roses at the statue of the blessed mother, where I had place pictures of our two deceased grandmothers earlier in the day. Then we gave a rose each to our grandmothers who were at the ceremony. We wrote in the program what we were doing so people would understand. I had the florist leave 4 long stem roses up at the alter, and the best man (best woman in our case) handed them to us when it was time.

One of the unique things we are doing is that we will be tied together by a red, silk sash to represent unity in marriage.

DH's uncle siad he loved our ceremony...'it was short and sweet'
since there was no religion - that cut down...
We had a rose ceremony...its about how the rose symbolizes love and to give it to one another on anniversaries and to make up from a fight (although we have not given each other a rose in the last 6 months :) )
then we gave those roses to our mothers on the way out...

Re: HOw are you making your CERMONY unique?
G and B have exchanged their rings, an outward symbolic gift of the union they share. They have publicly announced their love and devotion by the exchange of vows. Before their pronouncement as husband and wife, I request that they perform one more act of symbolism. Since ancient times the Rose has been synonymous with the words “I Love You.” In your hands you each now hold a single red rose. For your first gift as a married couple, I ask that you now exchange your roses.
In some ways it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small rose - and now you are holding one small rose. In some ways, marriage is like this. Tomorrow is going to seem no different than yesterday. But in fact today, just now, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life - the gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage.
G and B, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love and trust.
If in the course of your life together, you should ever find that you are at odds or at a loss for words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that rose says what matters most of all, it says, 'I still love you.' The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both share today.

FH's uncle is going to play bagpipes outside the church and then will start the processional by piping down the aisle. I am going to give a rose to each mother (mine as I approach the alter and his mother as I leave the alter). I think I may have FH give each mother a rose as we leave the alter too. I haven't decided yet if he will give roses too.

Re: HOw are you making your CERMONY unique?
I am having wedding pics of deceased grandparents, as well as a wedding pic of my parents (my father passed away) at the church and then at the place card table (I think - not sure if it should really go there or somewhere else).
Also, when we do our vows, I'm going to request that the lights be dimmed and the front two rows of guests in church will be holding lit candles. Have to figure out how to coordinate that though.

We had our Moms light the unity side candles at the very beginning of the ceremony We did a modified version of the hands prayer Our officiant turned & put her back to our guests We wrote family vows for our children & ourselves We lit the untiy candle We had a memory candle lit for those that passed w/ a beautiful cherub statue next to it(their names were listed in our program) We wrote our own vows Our friend did an unusual reading called what is love My husband worked for hours to make programs for me when I decided we were over budget & couldn't get them We used very unique musical selections played on piano & flute Our whole ceremony was 16 minutes(timed by my uncle)

Re: HOw are you making your CERMONY unique?
We used an edited version of the Hands Blessing (prayer)
had a string quartet play before, during, and after the ceremony
I was able to write the entire ceremony - our reverend was very flexible
at the receiving line we gave out rose petal cones from printed sheet music (the music we walked down the isle to) for the toss
