How are you remembering loved one

How are you remembering loved one

I'm having a sad day, maybe it's all the rain, and the holidays coming up. I know that some of you are in similar situations. My daddy passed away a while ago so naturally this day is going be hard for me and my family. I want to do something special. Also FH lost his grandpa a few years ago. So I was thinking of having one of those candles with both their names and having us light it with our families. Also my father loved the song ave maria so my MOH was a beautiful voice and will sing this while we light the candle. I'm also thinking of having the candle at the RH light as a queit reminder. I do not want it to become too sad at the reception. What does everyone think? What are others doing?

first - sorry you are having a sad day. . do something nice for yourself! Wrap yourself in a warm sweater and know it's a hug from your dad!

Well FH lost his mom a few years ago so we are doing our donations/favors in honor of her. . she was very into gardening and planting trees with the arbor foundation so we are donating those to her. .. not sure if we will put that on the card or just know it. .

I feel likeit depends. Im doing a memory candel and pics of our grandparents that have past. I thought about doing a song, but I personally felt that it would be to sad to do a song.

we are doing a memorial table. We are having the RH set up a table with chairs (the same for guest) but nothing on it and it the middle we are having a flower ring with 4 pillar candles. In back of that we are putting together a collage of pictures of all the ones who couldnt be there to see our special day. We are also going to have the pics flash around on the plasma screens during some point in the evening in memorial.

I think a candle is always a good choice my friend did the candle lighting to AVA Maria at her wedding in honor of her FIL and it was beautiful.. I myself am getting married on 12/11/09 my fathers bday is 12/12 so at midnight we will do a toast and dance to his favorite Frank Sinatra song and we are also doing a donation favor to the Leukemia Society

I'm putting this poem in the programs in memory of everyone that's passed...especially FH's father who died very suddenly of cancer this past January

In memory of ...
Although we can't see you,
We know you are here:
Smiling, watching over us
As we say 'I do.'
Forever in our hearts,
Forever in our lives —
And so we say our vows
In loving memory of you.

Aww! I'm sorry about your dad!

We are having a memory candle at our ceremony to remember our grandparents that could not be here. It is a touchy subject I know and the fact that my Pepe(dad's father) passed away four months to the day of our wedding it has been up in the air for it being too soon. So maybe I will do a poem with a candle

I am going to do a memorial candle for my dad and grandfather at the church and then I am going have an easle or something along the lines of that at the RH with a picture of my dad and grandfather and I am going to two really tall candles next to it. I am also going to have a book right next to the pictures and people can sign and share happy memories that they have of my dad and my grandfather. I have to speak to the RH about setting this all up so we wills see but it's def going to be along the lines of this.

FH's dad died two years ago, we are doing a favor donation to the ALS foundation in his memory and placing pictures of him on the piano in the foyer (sp) when you walk in the mansion. We will be having someone playing piano so it will be a focal point. Possible a candle if FH wants.

i was thinking about doing memory candles, not sure how or where or when, but thinking about it. there really is only one person that i want to remember and its my grandmother. so i'll definitely be having something of hers with me, and maybe doing a BOK charm...

Fh and I are getting married at our rh. I want to do memory candle for those who have past away in both families. My fh doesn't want that but I am doing it and I want to. I was close to the people that past away in my family and I am doing what I want to have them apart of my day. I have a feeling his family is going to be upset that no one in his family was said that past away but I will will making it very clear that fh didn't want that and that this was no my call to not include them.

That's really beautiful. I think I'm going to use that, too. I want to put a memory quote on the back of our program with the names of our grandparents who we've lost.
