I'm having a sad day, maybe it's all the rain, and the holidays coming up. I know that some of you are in similar situations. My daddy passed away a while ago so naturally this day is going be hard for me and my family. I want to do something special. Also FH lost his grandpa a few years ago. So I was thinking of having one of those candles with both their names and having us light it with our families. Also my father loved the song ave maria so my MOH was a beautiful voice and will sing this while we light the candle. I'm also thinking of having the candle at the RH light as a queit reminder. I do not want it to become too sad at the reception. What does everyone think? What are others doing?

My mom passed when I was 3, so I'm going to do a memory vase with flowers on the place card table....I may also light a candle with my dad and sisters during the ceremony.....

I'm putting this poem in the programs in memory of everyone that's passed...especially FH's father who died very suddenly of cancer this past January
In memory of ... Although we can't see you, We know you are here: Smiling, watching over us As we say 'I do.' Forever in our hearts, Forever in our lives — And so we say our vows In loving memory of you.
That's really beautiful. I think I'm going to use that, too. I want to put a memory quote on the back of our program with the names of our grandparents who we've lost.
I love it - I was so glad I found it. FH and I don't want to bring too much attention because no one's over losing his dad yet - so I thought putting this poem in the program would be a simple way to honor him.

Sorry you are having a sad day...I have been having them too!!! My mom passed away in Sept so I am honoring her by having her wedding picture and a candle on the fire place during the reception and I have a BK charm with her picture that says 'today I carry you'

Re: How are you remembering loved one
I am going to do that as well.... I really love the quote ! and the printed vase is beautiful..
i lost my grandparents over the summer due to cancer..they passed 3 weeks apart..it was horrible ! They were a second set of parents to me. I was always planning on having my grandpa walk me down the aisle so its going to be a hard day. So sad that I am planning this and don't have them to share it with...
I wanted to do the donation instead of favor..I know St Jude Children Hospital makes out bookmarks with the donation and in loving memory on it...Also want to do a candle type thing that some of you have shared!
We all have to remember that although they arent physically here they will be right by our sides on our wedding day

Re: How are you remembering loved one
unfortunately both FH and I have lost so many dear to us but I know I would like to incorporate the closest in our wedding.
I have decided to have a bok charm for my older brother who died when I was in hs. He was such an important part of my life that I want him with me as I walk down the aisle. I also want to incorporate FH father who died when he was a teen many yrs ago.
We are actually getting married on his grandma's bday (wasnt planned it was actually the before we got engaged).
FH doesnt really 'think' too much into this as he knows we have lost so many so I was thinking that within the program we can incorporate a list of names of those closest to us who couldnt share our special day along with a poem.
