how are your guests getting from hotel to reception and back?
Now that the hotel thing is close to being settled (thanks for responding to that thread) I am wondering if I should set up some shuttle service? How much does that cost and is everyone doing it? I looked at past threads but there wasn't much info.

You dont have to be my FI has insisted on setting up a shuttle because most of our OOT guests are our friends and honestly we are paying for an open bar and we dont want anyone to have to worry about driving. Some hotels (Holiday Inn Express) offer this free of charge or really inexpensivly. But I am sure whatever hotel you chose can help you find a shuttle service if you are interested in one. Most probably have a company they work with. It is not a requirement but I would say if its in your budget and you feel most of the people staying at the hotel would appreciate the shuttle service then I would do it! (we havent done this yet so I cant help with specific companies but if you do a search I knwo alot of peopl have recommened different ones)
Good Luck

We are providing a bus for our OOT guests because our church and reception site are far appart (about 30 minutes) and we have lots of people coming from the UK. I called H&J bus co in Ronkonkoma (they're in the white pages) and they quoted me $675 for 12 hours which I think is pretty reasonable. You can give them a call to see how much it would cost to do a shorter period of time.

i am getting married at the Watern=mill and having roooms blocked at the Sheraton about 10 min away. I am providing transportation to and from the reception. So the people that stay can leave their cars at the hotel.
A company is charging e %140 round trip for a 14 passenger van. Each additional van is the same amount. A little $$ for a 10 -15 min ride. Im checking around.

the Wyndham quoted me a price of $42 (I think) round trip if I set it up through them, so we're considering it. They gave me a list of about 3 or 4 companies to choose from as well, in case I wanted to hire them myself.

We booked the Holiday Inn Express in Stonybrook for our guests. They offer a free shuttle service to the reception but since it ends so late, the return service will cost me $50. I think that's a great price. They let me reserve 2 of their shuttles and even sent me slips of paper to insert in the invitations of the times of the shuttles. I have 2 different times:
6:45pm pickup & 7:30pm pick up
11:45 return & 12:30 return.
The holiday Inn in Hauppauge does the same thing!!

We are getting married at Beach Club in Ronkonkoma and OOT guests are staying at Courtyard Marriott...the Marriott provides a FREE shuttle to/from the reception.

Unfortunately, FH and I can not afford shuttle service for our guests traveling from the hotel. I feel terrible about this but what can I do. We are going to have taxis available after the reception to take people back to the hotel if need be. The hotel is only 2 miles away. Knowing my family, they will find some kind of car service to transport them all to the hotel and they will all chip in for it. Again, I feel terrible that I can't do this for them, but we are so broke it is not even funny!!!

Boop- I know how you feel, if Ido this, something else is going to have to go since we are closing on our coop and funds are short. I recently decided that this was a MUST. Not even an option just as music is.
I am so worried I am going to pay for this and no one will wind up staying there or something like that. URGH! I hope there are less expensive options out there.

Where did you block rooms? We blocked at the Inn at Fox Hollow and they told me that they have a connection with a shuttle bus company that is reallly inexpensive. It also helps that it's ionly a couple of miles from Oheka
