How Bad Is It If........

FH comes with me to try on dresses

I know some of you must be dying at the thought of it!!!!!

My Mom is not here - she is in Florida and wont be able to come dress shopping with me.......To be honest I really dont feel comfortable bringing anyone else - if I bring FMIL and FSIL I feel like I am cheating my Mom and Sister - and they don't really 'get' my style anyway. I could bring a friend but I don't really want to torture anyone and drag them around. The person who knows me best is FH and he is VERY honest but in a good way. He is the reason I want a beautiful dress in the first place! I figure its a year before the wedding and everything I try will be huge on me and all pinned up anyways so he'll have an idea of what I'm going to look like - but he won't see the finished product/the veil/the dress fitted to my body/the accessories, etc. He told me that he'll have something to picture in his head when he looks foward to the wedding and I thought that was sweet of him. He doesn't mind coming either. He said if I want him to come he is there.....Obviously I am not superstitious or traditional when it comes to things like this.....I really want him to be surprised but I feel like I would be much more comfortable with someone I trust coming with me. Its either that or I go by myself......I think that the people in the bridal salon might faint if we walk in together - I'll have to say he is my gay brother

I dont know what to do! I dont want to ruin the surprise for him - but FH said he's heard of grooms being like *** is she wearing.......which is horrible! I would die if that happened!

lol, he totally wont be like *** are you wearing, lol. dont bring him!! lol, let him be surprised!

I wouldn't do it. Drag one of the bm's that's what they're there for. It might sound like a good idea now but when the day of the wedding comes you might be upset that he kind of knows how you're going to look.

I would keep it a surprise--is there anyway you can bring a BM and have them take pictures to send to your mom, so that you can get her opinion?

i can def bring someone else - but i rather just go alone. i dont really want to bring anyone else - is that bad

FH wont be that surprised - we are seeing eachother before the ceremony for pictures anyway so i'm not really worried about the shock factor of it all

i dont know, maybe its because he sees brides ALL the time, he's seen like 1000 brides EASY - and i always ask how they looked - and its RARE for him to say that the brides had pretty dress - he thinks they all look the same - every once in awhile he'll say the bride looked nice. its like he's numb to it

maybe i just want to be sure that i dont pick a dress he's seen like 8,000 times already

i def will do what i want - i think i just want to see how many people think i am NUTS hahahaha!

i am undecided but leaning towards asking him to come.....like you said i think it would be kind of fun - FH isnt the type that would be bored by something like this.....he secretly would enjoy it! I think he loves the fact that I want him to come

I am very impatient and a lot of time will like to bring FH to see the dress but for him is very important not to see it.. So I think it is up to you. My mom will say that is crazy to bring the FH to look for dresses. what does your mom think?

i wouldnt do it, but it is up 2 u...if u feel comfortable letting him see it then go for it. but u can never replace the look on his face when he see's u 4 the first time in your dress.

For the most part I went dress shopping alone. My cousin came once, and my mom came once to one place and the last time to Kleinfeld's where I ultimately got my dress. But I went to RK a bunch of times by myself and am glad I did. It was so much easier to get a feel for the dresses without a bunch of people chirping in my ear. If you go to RK, make an appt with Olga (she's off on Wednesdays and another day-call and ask). She's this little sweet lady and she was so honest, really honest, and very helpful.

thats what i said.....when they put a size 12 on my size 0 body and have all of those thingies holding it up - i mean you can get the idea of it all BUT its not the same as when its being fitted......and a year is a long time so it wont be fresh in his head....its kind of like seeing a picture of it in a magazine.....except im the model

what if you just brought him for try-on sessions, but don't buy it with him there. at least get it narrowed down to like 3 but then you make the decision yourself. so at least that way you can get the input from him and he can be surprised. just an idea
