Original post by Mrs. V 2008

how many hours is the gap between your ceremony and reception..my ceremony starts at 4 and my reception is not till 8.. i wish i could change it..but the day i picked is a holy day and they won't do an earlier mass..anyone else in my boat? this is annoying! my parents house is around the block from the church (which is cool) so you don't think the guests will mind right? this has been bothering me!

Hey Kristen,
Our ceremony is at 2 and the cocktail hour starts at 6. We have to drive from North to South, but we do take our pictures right on CW Post's campus. You will be fine. Don't stress

Lisa

Ceremony @ 1pm, cocktail hour at 5pm. We're having a full mass so we should be done by 2:30ish (after exits and greetings and pictures) at the church, which will leave us 2 and a half hours to take pics. I'm thinking I may have someone be at my house with coffee and brunch or doughnuts in between whom so people can go there to unwind for about 2 hours and then they can follow each other to jericho terrace which could take up to 30 mins with traffic. plus JT has a room with complimentary coffee and tea for when your guests arrive early and there is time in between so that will help too.

Our ceremony was at 2:30, it was half an hour long, and our CH started at 5pm. Honestly, it was NOT enough time. When we first booked everything we thought that it was gonna be too much time in between, but after doing the receiving line at church after the mass, and taking pics at the church with the family, we didnt have a lot of time to do the candid shots at different locations around the city like we wanted to do. We only had time to go to one location and it was a little rushed.
I wouldnt worry too much about the guests waiting around cause you only get married once, so if having time for pics is a concern, take all the time you need. The guests will find something to do, im sure!!

i freaked out about having that much time in between.. but that was the only time the RH had and i dont know if i can change it with the church now..
but i figure the people who live local (my church is like within 10 minutes of all the locals) they can just go home.. the people coming in from long island can go back to my house with my mom.. or go do something i guess..lol. i figure its one day.. everyone will figure something out.

you know.. that's what eased my mind a bit... we have a 35 minute ride between the church and RH and with traffic it could take double that (im having a friday wedding..).. so we wanted to make sure we had enough time for pics outside church, the recieving line, and pics at our location..etc...
so i figure by the time we finish recieving line, and pics outside the church before we go for more pics .. it'll be almost 4:30 or 5.. if everything goes according to time... so then it won't be as much of a gap...

I think most of us are in your boat. My ceremony is at 2:00pm and my CH starts at 6:30pm. The gap is only going to be hours after the church is complete and pictures are taken.
