How can I tell if a school district is good and how it rates?

How can I tell if a school district is good and how it rates?

I've looked through those reports on MLS and they are too long and confusing. Is there an easier way that I don't have to dive into regents scores, etc.? I just want to know how it ranks among all NY schools.

How many kids go to a 4 year college. How many kids get free lunch. How many kids are learning English as a second language. My real estate agent gave us these three things. The last one was wierd to me but he explained that they slow down the class. I took it with a grain of salt.

Yep, I read the PDF files from MLS and just glanced at the basic points mlp mentioned.
I think that gives a better overall score of the districts and how they rank state-wide.
