How CRAPPY is this - My Poor Sister... grrrrr

I am throwing my sister's bridal shower and today was the RSVP date. I hadn't yet heard from anyone on her FH's side so I asked him to please call his mom today and see what's up. I invited 15 people from his side.

Well he called me back a little while ago to say that NONE of them are coming. NONE of them!!!!!! My sister has good relationships with all of them so it's nothing like that. They are just Upstate NY Hicks (sorry to be mean) and they are AFRAID to drive to NJ! They live about 3/12 hours away. My sister goes up there for holidays and birthdays all the time for them and they can't even come here for her bridal shower!!! NOT EVEN HIS MOTHER AND ONLY SISTER!!

I am SOOOOOO disgusted and I feel so bad for my sister. She doesn't know, but will the day of.
And on top of it, these are the type of people who won't send a gift.

I'm 99.9% SURE that not even his own mother will send a gift. They have no sense whatsoever!

What is wrong with these people!!

Really fuming right now and had to vent!

that's pretty disgusting. my FH's side of the family isn't coming to mine either----makes a real statement at the shower when no one from FH's side shows up. unbelievable. i hope she's not too hurt- that's really pathetic that they won't come.

That's terrible!!! You would think for an important event like that, they'd make the effort. I totally know what you're going through, I'm in a similar situation myself. People can be such a let down sometimes! Especially close family members, you'd expect that they'd care enough to come. I don't blame you for being upset!!! I guess try to just brush it off and say well screw them, and remember your sister's shower will be wonderful anyway!!!

her own FMIL and FSIL wont come? Wow thats just rude!!! Cant her FH call his mom and say she has to be there?!?! I mean for real...whats wrong with ppl!!!!

Wow i hope her FH was embarassed and yells some sense into his family. Does he know how hurtful it is? Sometimes guys are just so dumb that they dont know!

That def stinks, I mean at least her FMIL and FSIL should go, I think that is very rude of them, and if it were me, and my FMIL and FSIL didn't come to my shower, I would lose ALOT of respect for them. Maybe you could get her FH to ask them to come...

I wish her FH would yell at them! But I doubt he will. I could tell in his voice that he was embarrassed though. His family has known my sister for 8 years and she's been sooo good to them. I just think this is despicable.

that is so sad, my cousins and aunt on one side of the family did that, they planned another event on the same day After they knew when my shower was, because my Aunt is always so jealous of all her sisters, so she though she would do this just to be rude, so 20 people from my Moms side did not rsvp at all- all the same family, so my bridesmaid had to call each one and them then they finally said they couldnt make it, but two of them still never called...........talkin about rude......but it was better without them all there, trust me, so your sisters day will be wonderful, she dosent need them there, she will have a better time without them.....keep up with all you hard work....SMILE.....it will be fine..

Well I wouldn't have even known that they weren't coming unless I had him call them. They weren't even planning to let me know! Dumba$$es!And on top of it, these are the type of people who won't send a gift.

That's so uncalled for. Some people have the nerve.........ooo..........grrrrrrrrr....awe. I wish there was a way we could drag them there. Did FH say anything. Well I pray that your sister has such a good time that it won't bother her. awe. that's just wrong.

Where is you sister's wedding? Is it in NJ?? Are they going to pull the same s***?
