Last night I was waving my hand around and all of a sudden I heard this weird jingling sound, so I look down at my ring and I notice my diamond moving back and forth When I touch it I feel how loose it is and this is totally freaking me out because I could have lost it and realized it when it was too late. What I don't understand is how this happened - the night before the diamond was secured tightly like always and 24 hours later it's basically falling out of the prongs. Has this happened to anyone else?

i would take it off, and put it somewhere safe...and get to a jeweler as soon as you can.
Do you sleep with it on? You might want to take it off at night and when taking a shower, so that you don't accidentally pull the diamond out with sheets on , or anything.

Sometimes the setting settles and you just have to get it tightened. It happened to me as well and I just had the jeweler fix it

same thing happened to me about three months ago... i was putting my hair behind my ear and when my hand passed my ear i heard 'jingle, jingle' i was like
so i immediately took it off and put it in my bra LOL for the rest of the work day b/c i didn't trust having it ON and i was too nervous to put it anywhere else... then, later i found a green tiffany bag in my pocket book with a snap on it so i felt ok putting it in there until i got off work...
i went RIGHT to the jeweler and he told me that i had simply bent a prong- that it is VERY easy to do (pull it on a blanket, bang it ANYWHERE, or the setting could just become loose naturally over time).... it happens when you least expect it and you probably don't even notice it...
so what i do now is never sleep with it on or lay down with it on to avoid bending a prong by getting it caught on a blanket-- then, when i get it cleaned reguarly by him (like once a month i'll take it to be cleaned at the jeweler) i have him do a once over and check to make sure nothing is loose and there are no bent prongs...
i'm so glad you didn't lose it!!!

loosing my diamond was one of my biggest fears so FH got me a very secure setting. Not to say that nothing cant happen tot his one so i made sure to insure my e-ring as soon as i got it. Make sure u take it to the jewler to get it fixed and dont wear it in the meantime.

thank god u didnt lose it! This is common, dont freak.. mine came loose several times. A friend of mine has a gold setting and actually had platinum prongs put on bc she kept breaking her gold prongs... Its sooooo common, happens to EVERYONE.. get over to ur jeweler!!!!

it has happened to me about 3 mnths ago I took it off until i got it fixed sometimes the prongs get caught on something

my FI always yells at me to go get mine tightened. if your setting is platinum, it is very pliable so it may have stretched or moved a little.

i dont know how it happens but it it will be a year ago from this comming friday that my stone fell out of the prongs. Good thing is i found it and rushed it directly to the diamond doctor. lol stone was fine no scratches no chips nothing. so i was lucky to find it on the floor under the radiator. So FH is laughing at me because this month especially i keep checking the ring constantly to make sure it is ok.

I would bring it back to your jeweler right away and ask them to fix the prongs. From what I hear you should get the prongs checked every 6 mos - a year. HTH...

don't worry Dantina, something similare happened to me as well, i just brought it back to the jewler and he tighten the setting for me..

Fortunately, that has not happened to me. I am so scared of that happening I'd die!!!! Get to a jeweler ASAP!!!

I am taking my ring to get appraised on Wednesday, I am going to ask them to make sure the prongs are set tightly.. I have been so freaked out wearing it when I bartend at the restaurant, that I actually bought a fake ring to wear at work

This is my worst fear also. Even though mine is insured I still freak out about it!! I shake mine next to my ear literally all day long so that I can see if it's loose. I look crazy doing it, but I don't care. Mine is set very low so I don't bang it really ever, but I still get nervous about it!
