I'll start.. mine isn't too exciting...I met him through work. I had that 'never date anyone from work' rule. So I turned him down the first time
After a few months of working together on the same project and endless flirting between each other, he asked me to go out again. I was caught by surprise so I never gave him an answer till a couple of days later.
You can guess how it turned out. We've been together ever since

Re: How did you...
Junior high... although I hated his guts until after I graduated. He was dting a friend of mine & she used to tell me all these awful stories about how he was a jerk....well I found out years later that she was cheating on him th ewhole time & just wanted to try & get him to break up with her....any way
He asked me out for 10 years....yes 10, finally we went to london to go & visit my family & when we got to spend some time alone without all of our friends' drama & opinions, we decided that we would date.
as of last month, we have known each other for 16 years
The funny thing is, he wanted to ask me out the first time he saw me, but my ex (one of his frineds) asked me out first.....wierd how things work out I guess

Re: How did you...
College! He lived across the hall from me at the dorms. I broke up with my then bf and he broke up with his then gf. I found out my ex was dating one of my best friends and I threw my phone across the hall and it landed in his room. He came in to find out if I was ok and to bring me my phone. I cried and vented and then asked him to leave so I could be alone. When I woke up from a tearful nap, he asked me to come across the hall he had something for me. It was a sign that he had made for me with my name on it and a tiny heart by the 'Y'. I was hooked!!!!!!!! We were friends for a while and oh so in denial of our feelings and then like 2 months later we started seriously being together and on September 4th, I get to marry my Best Friend!!!
How cute are all these stories though! I love hearing matching up stories!!!

Our story is quite wild. We met in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. I was there with my girlfriends for a crazy girls weekend, and he was there his buddies. I was in Pat O'Brians drinking a hurricane and I had a cigarette in my hand (bad I know) and he came over, lit it, and we started talking. We ended up spending the entire weekend together. He lived in San Francisco at the time - so we did the long distance relationship for about 6 months, spoke every day (for hours) and did a lot of travelling back and forth and went to Europe together. He then got his job to transfer him to New York. A couple of months later we got engaged and moved in together. We have been amazingly happy ever since.
Needless to say our signature drink at our wedding will be hurricanes!
I went to Jazzfest this year and had such a great time!!! Can't wait to go back next year (we're already making plans).
FH and I met while bartending at this hole in the wall bar by Queens College. We've been together for approx. 6 years (we don't have an anniversary)!
I love reading everyone's stories!

Re: How did you...
FH and I worked together for 9 months before we went on that fateful date. He was a bellman, I was a desk clerk at a hotel. I was always dating other bellman, and it was obvious it made him furious. He apparently knew he was going to marry me from the moment we met.
He would say 'We should hang out sometime...' I wasn't having it - I am straightforward and I needed him to be a little more agressive - One day I replied 'If you want to date me you are going to have to be a little more confident than that.' (What a bit@h!!)
He was so mortified, he refused to speak to me for 2 months, and then finally, as he puts it, he 'went out and got some confidence' to finally ask me out.
After we kissed on our first date we both stared deeply into each others eyes, jaw dropped. Neither of us had ever felt anything so intense in our lives. I kept saying 'What the hell just happened?' and we would go in for another one. 13 months later he asked me to marry him.
I have never been more sure of anything in my entire life!!

These stories are great. Flacataca I love how you threw your phone into his dorm, that's great. So if he ever tells you to calm down...you can say, hey the first time you met me I was this way :).
Sounds like everyone is marrying their best friend. I am so excited! I couldn't ask for a better person to spend the rest of my life with. He is such a guy guy, with his jersey's and sandle's, but he still treats me like a princess.

Mine is by far the weirdest!!!!
My brother married My FI's sister! We were paired in the bridal party, but didn't start dating till about two years later.
We had so much in common and had the same goals in life. We complained to each other about past relationships and realized that we wanted the same things. Also, we were attracted to each other and got along great!
I am marrying my best friend!
Don't worry it is not insest!!! Some people actually question me about that.
That is great

Re: How did you...
Wow! It makes me happy to hear about all these Internet matches.
I had basically gotten frustrated with who I was meeting at bars and clubs, so I posted a profile on Match.com. It wasn't the first time i had done it, but the last times all I had met were wierdos.
The very next night as I was getting ready to go to yet another club, I get an IM. FH had seen my profile and guessed that my AOL name was the same as my profile name. He had just moved to NY from NM and wanted to meet new people. According to Match.com we were a 70% match. Not bad odds.
Having done the Internet dating thing before, I was hesitant to meet him right away, so we chatted for a week, then started speaking on the phone.
By our first date, we had a steady flow of conversation. He was so sweet and nervous on our first date. He bought me a book and a rose (very different) and then we had a very typical date -- dinner and a movie.
Two weeks later we were practically inserperable and both knew this was it.
On our wedding day, we'll be together exactly 3 years to our first date.

ANOTHER MATCH.COM
I say I had to kiss a lot of frogs to find my prince......wouldn't it be funny if one of us here had had a date with one of the other's partners??? I know my FI only went out with me --- guys have more to invest than we ladies -- but oh yeah, I met a few winners first.....

Re: How did you...
I met FI through the internet to from Love@AOL. He got tired of meeting girls that at bars and clubs so decided to put up his personal ad and see who would respond. I was tired of meeting guys the same way so I gave it a try. I saw his ad and decided to respond. We talked via email for a week, spoke on the phone for a week and then we went on our first date. That was almost 4 years ago.

1st grade!
Then he moved away and we met again in 10th grade at Holy Trinity High School. We found out that we used to live 2 blocks away from each other while we both in 1st grade. We were probably on the same bus too!

Re: How did you...
My mother worked for a company that did a lot of Fire/EMS trade shows. Her boss asked her if I would be interested in being their 'spokesmodel'. So I traveled around to different conventions on the East Coast and basically got paid to flirt with firemen! I never took any of them seriously since I thought firefighters were players. I went to the convention in Syracuse and got introduced to my DH, my boss knew him from other shows. He is the VP of his father's company and their booth was diagonal from ours. We flirted the entire time. He told me he was from St. Louis so I didn't think it would lead anywhere. Finally the last day he admitted that he was also a firefighter. Three days later, at the end of the show, we exchanged numbers and he invited me to visit him in Missouri. I really didn't think he would call but he did, THAT night. We talked every day for hours for a month and a half until I got the courage to fly out to see him. The rest is history!

Re: How did you...
My husband and I met online
We both came across this website, where people just left their names, location and email address.
I came across his name and saw he lived on Long Island and wrote him an email.
We spoke online for about a year (we both had relationships at the time) and then finally we were able to meet.
