How did you...

Original post by annaae

meet your FH?? Would love to hear your stories..

I'll start.. mine isn't too exciting...I met him through work. I had that 'never date anyone from work' rule. So I turned him down the first time

After a few months of working together on the same project and endless flirting between each other, he asked me to go out again. I was caught by surprise so I never gave him an answer till a couple of days later.

You can guess how it turned out. We've been together ever since

Re: How did you...

ok ignore my last entry...i'm not so good at working this yet.....how do you guys take someone else's entry and add it to yours???

anyway....we met driving down the street when I was 19. My friend was driving and I looked over at a red light and there he was..talking away on his cell phone in the passanger seat. I picked up my friends old car phone and mimicked him. Then we pulled over and talked. We dated on and off for 4 years but we always came back to eachother. And, well you know what happens next.... It was hard telling ourpriest this story...he thought we were crazy!

Re: How did you...

Vin was my brothers best friend in High School and although we all went to the same school we weren't friends. He was your typical football player/jock and I was a music geek (I wish I was kidding!) we didn't even talk until right before I graduated. My cousin was spending the summer with us and began dating another one of my brother's friends, and kept telling me I should go out with Vin-but I was COMPLETLY against it. He even asked me to hang out a couple of times and I said no!!!!! So a few weeks later I'm walking out of work and there sitting in the car was my cousin, her boyfriend and Vin and they kidnapped me and brought us to the movies! We've been together ever since!!!! My cousin and her boyfriend have since broken up and she jokes that me and vin are the only good thing that came out of that relationship!

ETS: This is a great thread!!!!! I want more stories!!!!!

He was my backyard neighbor since I was 5 years old. He said his first memory of me was me flipping him the bird at 6 years old.

Met at the bowling alley. We were in a league and my team bowled his. We made I contact and (I know it sounds cheesy) I literally had to gasp for breath. We got eachother's screennames after having a blast together and that was that

Re: How did you...

We met at work, I'm a librarian and I was running a program. there was this new page who was in the back serving the refreshments and she looked lonely so I went up to her to say hi and introduce myself (It didn't hurt that she was cute So we talked and struck up a friendship. I was single but she had a BF which was ok with me because she was really cool to hang out with so I didn't mind being friends with her. Over the next few months we became really close friends. Then her BF became jealous because we were spending so much time together that he told her he didn't want her to hang out with me anymore So we stopped talking and didn't see each other or talk for about 4 or 5 months. Then I was at the System of a Down concert at Jones Beach and between acts I stood up to stretch. I was looking around the stadium and one of the only other people standing up besides me was Kristin. so she saw me too and we waved to each other but didn't talk because she was there with her BF. So about a week goes by and I'm pulling into my bank and who should be pulling out but her. So we stop and talk and we really miss being friends. So we begin talking again, nothing major just emails and such but then she and her BF are having problems and they break up. So we begin hanging out again and we just clicked like old times...then about a month later she asks me out and we lived happily ever after!

Re: How did you...

VERY LONG POST--SORRY in advance!!!

We met on the Internet!! Cliche for the times , isn't it? Tony (FH) and I don't recall who initiated the first instant message conversation. We chatted for a few months. Tony had the Internet only at work and he was not going to be at work for a while due to his father's death, so he gave me his phone number to stay in contact with him. We talked for hours on the phone. One day I was in a Catholic chatroom. I had been looking for a retreat to attend and thought that maybe someone in the chatroom may know of some that would be of interest to her. I asked Tony if he knew of one and he said that both his mother and sister have attended a retreat in the past. Turns out the retreat had been one that I have been to many times. (This retreat was for those who belonged to a Prayer Group for Padre Pio, who is now offically Saint Pio.) As the story unfolds, I had met a boy many ears ago at a church that hosts this Prayer Group. My familyand I were praying for a boy who had a very serious heart problem and was about to undergo another heart operation. I recall talking to this boy. I was 15 (now 30)and he was 12. I remembered how he looked and how though he was very sick, he had so much life in his eyes and had a smile that lit up the room. Later on that day, I felt sad for himand his family. I had never encountered someone so close to my age, being so sick. Tony mentioned his siblings to me on numerous occasions. He mentioned having a brother who died years ago from a heart problem. He mentioned where he lived and what he did for a living. On the afternoon of my 25th birthday(4 months after our initial chat), my mother was convinced that Tony's brother was the same boy we had prayed for years ago. She recalled Tony's address. She had written to this boy after they met that day at the Prayer Group. In one of her letters she sent a medal of Mary. Tony's mom had invited my mom and family to her house all those years ago, but we had never gone. My mom then tells me to email Tony to find out if the boy was his brother. It certainly was a memorable birthday! My mom and I both met Tony, his mom and sister that weekend. His mom remembered my face and where I sat that day in church. She showed me a picture of her son who had past. It was the same face I remembered all those years ago! She also told us that her son was buried with the medal my mom had given him. After 6 years I still get chills telling this story!

Re: How did you...

Our story is quite wild. We met in New Orleans during Jazz Fest. I was there with my girlfriends for a crazy girls weekend, and he was there his buddies. I was in Pat O'Brians drinking a hurricane and I had a cigarette in my hand (bad I know) and he came over, lit it, and we started talking. We ended up spending the entire weekend together. He lived in San Francisco at the time - so we did the long distance relationship for about 6 months, spoke every day (for hours) and did a lot of travelling back and forth and went to Europe together. He then got his job to transfer him to New York. A couple of months later we got engaged and moved in together. We have been amazingly happy ever since.

Needless to say our signature drink at our wedding will be hurricanes!

Re: How did you...

Danielle and I met on match.com. I was the first person that Danielle ever met from the internet, unfortunately Danielle wasnt my first woman that I met on the Internet. I had met a few before. Most of them were out of their minds lol.

The funny thing is - is that I had just removed my profile from match.com about 10 minutes before. Match told me that I could have one free week to decide if I wanted to put my profile back up or if I wanted to cancel it. I was so tired of meeting people on line and I didnt think I was going to meet the perfect woman for me there, so I decided to take a break from it.

I was searching some of the profiles, and I came across Danielle's profile. I thought it sounded really good, and I figured I would email her. SO I did, and I am so glad that I did. We started chatting through Aol and email...and then talked on the phone. We decided on meeting at Starbucks in Merrick.

So we met....and I was sooo happy....because I walked in and I saw how Beautiful she was. We stayed there for over an hour, drank our coffee and talked. I totally did not think she was into me because she was so quiet, and I felt like I had to initiate conversation to get her to talk. Boy was I wrong....At the end of our date she tells me her friends are going out that Saturday and asked if I would be interested in going....I said YES.

Well we went out that Saturday night with her friends Kathy and Andrew....and we have been together since.

23 days till we are married.

Re: How did you...

we met through a mutual friend.

I was picking my friend up at work, he introduced me to shawn. We hung out a little bit, then he started venting to me about his girlfriend. I got a little discouraged, but we became friends, I let him vent to me. One night we were at a club and he told me he wanted to kiss me but couldnt becasue he was still with the girlfriend. Iwanted to kill him for telling me because that was all i could think about till they broke up, I wanted my kiss! A couple of days after they split Shawn called me to go on a date (I had never been on a date before, my xboyfriends were always broke) We have been together ever since (5.5years)

Re: How did you...

The golden arches brought us together (wow, that sounds 'cheesy'). I was quiet when I started working there and was asked by a friend to join him and other friends for a movie that weekend. I said 'yes'. A group of us started hanging out every weekend and working together of course. A few managers asked me what I thought of Greg (my Dh) and I would say 'hes nice,sweet..he's a great friend.' I had no interest in dating him, wanted nothing to ruin our friendship....Well about 4 years go by and I had a new years eve party at my house (my BF at the time was away in Florida and we were having problems)..Anyway, flirting started from there for a few months and we started dating in May of '95, were engaged in aug. 98 and married oct. 24, 1999 and are STILL very happy together!!

Re: How did you...

I love all of this internet matching...I too met the FH online through dreammates or something like that. My co-workers decided to put profiles of themselves on this website, and I told them they were crazy....until I saw that they were having such a good time with it! All of the hits and emails you get...while at work. It's like being out when you are at work. So I put my picture up, and the first person to write to me was him. He had no picture, so after I requested one, which sounds vain but is really safety measure, I decided to talk to him. And now I am going to marry him...My picture got emailed to him as a match, and he decided to write to me. Lucky guy
I often wonder about what would have happened if I didn't post my picture. I still can't believe I did it. What was really nice was that after we went on our first date, he removed his profile from the site. He didn't tell me-I was being sneaky and checking out when the last time he was looking around for girls....I knew then.

Re: How did you...

We were paired up in a wedding party together. I had introduced the bride to one of his best friends, and stoped hanging out after they got togehter, so nerver really new FH, but the night of the rehearsal dinner we walked down the isle together and at the dinner, I remember him buttering his roll...without a knife...I was like, I like that...and we totally hit it off at the wedding.

Re: How did you...

Mine is by far the weirdest!!!!

My brother married My FI's sister! We were paired in the bridal party, but didn't start dating till about two years later.

We had so much in common and had the same goals in life. We complained to each other about past relationships and realized that we wanted the same things. Also, we were attracted to each other and got along great!

I am marrying my best friend!

Don't worry it is not insest!!!
Some people actually question me about that.

Oh, I love these posts!

FH and I met at Church. He ran a retreat and I was asked to go with his church. I met him 3 yrs before we started dating. We knew God was going to have something to do with bringing us together.

Everyone says to us, 'How can you meet at church, aren't you supposed to be praying?'

Re: How did you...

I love these stories, they are all so cute.

I went for a cigarette break in college with a friend and he introduced me to Nick. The guys started talking about car stuff so I pretended I knew what they were talking about and proceeded to tell Nick about this amazing sports car I had. Of course ending the conversation saying 'Would you like to walk me to my car and see it?' When we got to my car he saw it was a crappy 86 Buick Skylark and he looked at me like I was crazy and I said 'Well I got you alone didnt I?' We laughed and talked more and the rest is history...

Re: How did you...

I wish i could really remember meating my fi - and i mean it i remember nothing of actually dancing with him and my friends don't remeber either

We met at my sorority party where every girl invites 2 guys anamously, but me i invited 2 girlfriends because it was cheaper if we did it that way and i dod not have a crush on anyone. My Fi was invited by another sister as a friend. We were both very drunk.

We danced for a while i have heard - We believe a mutual friend pushed us together but we do not know

As we sobered up we realized we had a lot in common

The funny thing is i hadnever met him before and he lived directly above me - he had seen me before
