How did you all choose........

your reception date? Did you want a certain time of year? Was it for sentimental reasons? Budget? Just curious......

I have always wanted a WinterWonderLand wedding... So I knew the Holiday season would be the time for me..

Getting ready for the holidays is the most happiest time of year for me..

I love the warmth it makes me feel.

Plus Ronnie is ALWAYS hot... So wearing a tux in dead heat would make my boy cranky!

We picked ours based on the time of year and it was also convenient for my family - they all live out of state.

I picked it based on two things: $$ and heat. March is a low season month and I refused to be a summer bride. I get hot very easily and I get real cranky. Not a good combo on our wedding day! But I didn't want a winter month like December.

We originally wanted 5/31/03, but once I saw the price difference for a March date I was sold.

We originally wanted the BEG. of Oct but it booked up pretty quickly. My borther is getting married in June and FH good friend in Sept. and we wanted to have it when the weather was warm. We chose
8-29-03 which happens to be our 4 year anniversary !!!! (it also worked out well b/c I'm in school and planned to take the fall off but cannot and I would have missed too much school!!)

Well now that we live down in Florida one of the things we miss the most is the change of seasons. I've always loved the fall and really miss seeing the leaves change colors (although they hadn't changed much this year in early Oct.), so we knew that's when we wanted to get married since we were going back north.

I always either wanted a Spring or Fall wedding! My TWO favorite seasons!

We decided on Fall because we have A LOT of weddings in the beginning of 2003. We always said we wanted an October wedding if we chose Fall. And so we just chose between whatever dates Fox Hollow had available! We were not picky. October 19th is not sentimental for us. It will be now!

We knew we wanted the spring, so May was perfect for us. Plus my FH good friend is getting married July so we wanted to space it out a bit and we didn't want to wait til after, we want to get married already

fall is my favorite season, october is right in the middle of it and october 26 just had a better 'feel' to it than any other saturday that month...

I pretty much looked at all different sites. I fell in love with the Carlyle but they are pretty expensive. So I pretty much asked them what they had within the next 6 months. As I worked for a reception hall in banquet sales I knew that no one books a wedding under about 10 months. Six months is unheard of and is basically found $ for them. That is how I ended up with 1/31!

My husband and I picked our date probably 3 weeks into dating. I always loved fall so we decided on September and after ruling out the Jewish holiday weekends, Labor Day, etc., we came up with our date. It was an added bonus that the song September from Earth, Wind and Fire begins ' Do you remember, the 21st night of September...' Oh, boy, I wish I could do it all over again...

Well, we knew we wanted summer because it's the easiest time for me to take a semester off from my MBA program. Then we sort of worked backwards and forwards from the end of one semester and the beginning of the next, wanting about 6 weeks between when spring classes ended and 6 weeks before fall began. We ended up with early-to-mid July and then we went looking for a reception venue for what dates were available, given the availability at the church. By process of elimination (and the fact that Sunday is a lot cheaper than Saturday!), we ended up with July 6!

Geeky, huh?

As it turns out, though, our date WILL have some significance, as it's FIL's 35th anniversary! Plus we think it's cool to be getting married 4th of July weekend! Our birthdays are both in the fall, so this gives us even more of an excuse to celebrate something another time of year!

I am not a fan of the cold, and I did not want to be too hot, so September seemed perfect.

the reason I picked my date is because we had initially wanted Sept/October but every place we wanted was booked, and we didn't want to do it any later than that...

We picked our date to fit our budget. Although, I am starting to wish I did the winter wonderland thing, so many places look extra beautiful right now with their holiday decorations.

Yeah, I pretty much wilt in hot weather too. I can't stand it. So I'm looking at May '04 dates. I love the spring. I'm still waiting for the proposal though! (We're going to look at rings next week). My b/f knows I'm stressing out about planning this thing from out of state, so he gave me the ok to at least start looking at halls. I'm gonna have to try and squeeze some appointments in when I'm home for Christmas!

We originally wanted sometime in September but every Sat. night was booked and we didn't want to wait until the end of the year or 2004. It worked out even better that we're having it on a long weekend since so many guests will be from out of town.
