I'm a teacher and my FI is finshing grad school in May and starting law school in Sept. so the summer was best for us. His mom actually picked our date. She is really into astrology and consulted an astrologist to determine our best date determined by our time and place of birth. I do not believe in this at all, but it made her happy, so I didn't mind.

At first we picked the time of year but, many places were not available or couldn't hold the size of our wedding. Once we had all the dates available we went from there. LOL

I picked my month b/c at work my busy months are May through October. I would not have been able to go on my honeymoon so I booked it in November and had a beautiful day...thankfully!

Originally we chose the season because FH loves the summer and wanted an outdoor wedding, but we chose the date because it was my grandmother's birthday and I was very close with her so its my way of having her with me on my wedding day.

We wanted to get married close to the anniversary of our first date (which is Sept. 8th), so when we looked at a calendar for 2004, we noticed that the closets Saturday to the 8th is the 11th. We decided right away that we would not be married on Sept. 11th, so we chose the following Saturday which is the 18th.

eroxgirl - your post made me want to cry! I miss my grandma....... That gives me an idea though - I have to find out my b/f's mom's birthday. She passed away a few years ago from cancer and the family was crushed. It might be nice to get married on her birthday, to honor her.

I wanted October when the leaves are changing, but it's a busy month for my FH (NY Tabletop Show), so we opted for late September.

I didn't want a summer wedding where I would be sweating as soon as I walked out the door and I didn't want a winter wedding when there's no leaves on the trees.

I wanted fall wedding! Fall is my favorite season! My birthday, when I find met FI, ETC... Also, We didn't want to wait very long to get married (one year tops), so we picked Sept. First week was taken at our place, second week is the 13th and with the 11th of sept near I wasn't feeling lucky and I couldn't see that being a great future day for us, fourth week was Rosh Hashanah. So, Sept 20th it was!!!!
I can't believe that date is going to be my anniversary!

We wanted a winter wedding with Christmas decorations! We decided on the first Saturday of the new year to bring it in with happy occasion!

I originally wanted to get married in September, but because I'm a teacher I didn't want to have to postpone my HM. So we decided to get married the end of June, that way we could enjoy our HM and have the summer off to set up our house.

we needed a 3-day weekend because FH and his family live in NY and the wedding is in california. i graduate early next year, so that left may or july. and memorial day is my birthday so we picked july 5th

We really dont know how we picked our date. September is always such a lovely month. Not too hot, not too cold, not going to snow, rains occassionally (unlike april or may where it rains a lot), and its just the perfect way to end the summer. Our date we looked at September and the 4 Saturdays were, 4, 11, 18. 25. The 4th is labor day weekend and we thougt family and friends may not really want to travel labor day weekend. then the 11th out of the question, and the 18th seemed great. its right before the first day of fall and its a great way to end the summer right into fall.

Well being that I teach I had four choices...summer, christmas break, february break or april break. My FH said NO WAY to a summer wedding, he hates the heat. Plus they are more expensive so, I was fine with that. We got engaged around Christmas, so if we picked the following Christmas (now), it would not have been enough time to pay for everything. February is too cold, and my time off is less. So, here we are with our April wedding. April was a bit more affordable at Flowerfield, but I ended up with good friday because I wanted an evening wedding and could not afford Saturday at Flowerfield. AHHHHHHHHH I never thought I would be an april bride, much less on good friday. But when we fell in love with Flowerfiled we had to find a way to make it work at a more affordable price. We were looking for a time that was convinent for everyone so we did the saturday after Thanksgiving next year

It was a combination of the heat of the season, and we wanted to wait til I was done with school. So with the 2 combined - we chose 9/21 as it was the first Sunday after I was done!!!

Well, we went down the list of months. Since the wedding is in NY I didn't want to get married in the winter, (hate the cold). Don't like the months of March and April. May I wanted, but couldn't get the dates, and my FH didn't want to wait till 2004. June, everyone and their mother gets married then, July and August is too hot. September, I didn't want to take away from my cousins anniversary, October, I didn't want it on anyone's birthday, or close to mine, and Decemeber is too close to Christmas. So November was perfect. Just two weeks before Thanksgiving. :

I wanted to get married in the Spring. May isn't too hot, and isn't too cold. I also wanted to be able to get married outside and have my cocktail hour outside as well.
