HOW DID YOU BUY YOUR HOUSE?

How did you do it?

We really want to buy a house (in New York).
It just seems like they are selling a lot of crap for A LOT of money!

It's so expensive to live on long island. All of our family is here. We really want to up and go to florida and have our $300,000 mansion LOL...but our family is here...

My FI and I have been on www.msnli.com looking at houses...but just looking online...it takes a long time i'm sure to get the house?

And the area...and the school district....and visiting these houses...

How many open houses did you visit? How long did it take you to CLOSE vs. the time you first started looking around?

WEdding is in October so...what's the BEST plan of action for any couple who's interested in getting house?

In this post, I ask for your recommendation regarding house searching, possibly a good broker you came in contact with, or just a good area in long island to buy in (farmingdale.--->west).

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Re: HOW DID YOU BUY YOUR HOUSE?

First of all Congrats on even the idea on buying a house!!!
Well for starters make sure your and your FI credit is in good shape that is one of the most important things to look at.
As for the rest, you need to have a good down payment, see what you and FI can afford
alot of us get way over our heads but we manage.
Look into a fixer-upper, sure it's alot of work but it's worth, as for the neighborhoods boy that isa tough one since real state it's out of control, you have to take your time in looking.
I personally love it here in the northshore
maybe you can rent with an option to buy until you have decided exactly what you really want. As for Florida we are thinking of buying there but not yet, we are blessed that we have a house already. But meantime take my advice and do the first steps. If you already have those things done then I can reccomend a friend of mine. let me know.
Junie
