how did you coordinate booking the church and the hall?

how did you coordinate booking the church and the hall?

Or heck, how did you start the whole process???

The church where we want to married is a very large parish. I wouldn't be surprised if many dates / times will be unavailable when we go to book the date. I also realize that we'd then have to try to coordinate a hall that was available at the right date / time...

I hear that churches want you to book them first, is this correct? Do they get upset if you request a date / time change to accomodate the hall you find? (Assuming, of course, they can accomodate the change)

I guess I'm worried that this won't all come together as I'm hoping!

Someone just asked this question today. Guess you both are at the same point of planning.

We did both the reception hall and church on the same day. On the way to the reception hall we called the church to confirm they still had the date open. Then we signed with the reception hall and went to the church right after. No one has to know which one was first. Don't mention it to the other.

Just find out what times the reception hall takes parties. They typically have specific times and churches usually say anytime before *** or anytime after ***, depending on the day.

we had a couple of dates in mind, then went to look at reception halls.....found some we liked....found out their dates they were available....then had them hold a certain day then went to the church to make sure they could do it that day...it worked out ok for us, but we are in march...good luck

We did the same.

As for the time thing, our church only does weddings at certain times each day so we picked the latest afternoon time they had. They have to schedule weddings around their mass schedule.

FH and I looked at RH's first. Got some dates. Talked to the church. Didn't tell them we were looking at RH's. Said we wanted to get married in June. Went with a date, called the catering hall, had them hold the date for us until we could get a deposit down.

IF you are getting married at a large parish, I would ABSOULTELY book the church first!!!! i am getting married in February and there were already 2 weddings that day already xscheduled well over a year in advance! thank god the tiem i wanted was the one left!

really, there are a gazillion halls out there...and onyl one church they you grew up in... you will have other options hall-wise if the date is taken, not the other way around. to
me and FH the Mass is what it's all about and is what is important to us so we booked that first.

I got a bit of lip from my church when I told them we had started looking at RH. BUT I also told the priest we didn't want to do anything before booking the church.

Anywhoo, I picked 2 Sat. the hall I wanted had available and asked the church which was better for them without telling them the date was because of the hall. It wasn't easy and I don't feel I lied to the priest either. (as my mother thinks)
