how did you find your babys doctor?

I am just trying to figure out how I go about findings a pediatrician for my baby once he is born. I know I have to find one before he arrives and I am sure that my doctor will recommend someone but does anyone here have any recommendations for a doctor? I would like them to be affiliated with Winthrop Hospital, if possible, since that is where I will be giving birth. I live in Oyster Bay, but will travel if they are great doctor. I live nearby and my son's pediatrician(s) is in Mineola. We like them so much (a group of 4 women) that we would rather travel than go to one that accepts our insurance nearby. Please let me know if you want the info if you are willing to travel to Mineola. They are affiliated with Winthrop.

My cousin reccomended ours. And when I mentioned it to my OBGYN he said. That's where we take my kids. So, I knew I had a winner. I love them. But, they are in Floral Park. Maybe to far for you.

I used a pediatrician group (4 doctors) called CPEC Pediatrics when I ahd my son. I had to drop them when he was 6 months b/c our insurance changed but they are great and I highly recommend them. They are affiliated with Winthrop, that's where I had both my kids and they are located just down the street in Mineola. I dont have their # handy but check your insurance list..the doctors are Castiglia, Polsinelli, Elvir and ....I cant remember the last ones name but I still miss them If they ever accepted our current insurance, Id go back to them in a heartbeat. Someone else recommended them to me also. And they are in my insurance plan . Now how do I go about getting them as my pediatrician? Do I call them to see if they are accepting new patients?

LOL if I read the other replies, I'd see that they were recommended to you already. Just call and ask if they are accepting new patients. I would be surprised if they are not. Good luck, let us know if you go with them. It's a very good feeling to have a pediatrician you really like and trust, I think you will like them.
