at least 1 bedroom Kings Park or east, north of the LIE preferably not a basement includes utilities (especially a/c!) doesn't allow pets or smokers (i'm pretty allergic to everything) cable/internet hookups available (even if we have to pay for it separately - you wouldn't believe how many people don't have internet access!!!! I was shocked.)
and isn't being rented by WEIRDO LANDLORDS!!!
Trying to avoid a broker's fee...I hate to give up a month's rent for it.
Soooo how'd you find your apartment?
Thanks!

Re: How did you find your current apartment?
My Fh and I have lived together for the last 3 1/2 years. We have moved 3 times since we have been together. Two of those times we found our places through the Yankee Trader. This last time we were looking for a bigger place, well actually a house to rent. We ended up going through a broker. We did this because we knew what we wanted and were short on time to move.
Just a hint if you are going to look in the Yankee trader and : Call them and find out when they come out. That day you can go down there and pick up issues from other areas.
Good Luck!!

Re: How did you find your current apartment?
I found my apartment in the Pennysaver about 2 years ago. I looked mostly on their website because it's updated daily and sometimes has postings not yet in the paper.

Initially we found it on Craig's list and contacted the poster who turned out to be a realtor.

When I was in law school at Hofstra, I found a great place in Newsday classified...you can also go to the Newsday site online and search out your desired area...good luck!

Re: How did you find your current apartment?
My last apartment we found through a RE Agent. I needed to get OUT of where I was living (bad situation living with a friend that kept getting worse each day), so after spending a couple of weeks using classified ads in the newspapers and online, I gave up. I spent 1 weekend with back-to-back-to-back appointments with different RE Agents, and finally found something I liked.
Our current apartment used to be FH's Grandmothers ....

I found my 2 bedroom apartment in Newsday. I think new listings come out on Fridays. I've been here for over 4 years.

Re: How did you find your current apartment?
We found ours in our local Pennysaver. We didn't want to pay extra in broker's fees either. Most of the ones we went to look at were from Craig's List though. Good luck in your search!

Ditto for us. Unfortunately, we did have to pay a hefty broker's fee!!! But after looking at 15 apartments in person, I liked this one and for everything it offered, it was the best deal so we went for it.
