I had been trying on dresses with sleeves because my mom made a point to say that 'bigger girls' should cover their arms. I found a couple that looked nice but I wasn't wowed....then the woman in the store said come on...try a strapless and it was the Maggie Sottero Bethanie and MOH said OH MY YOU'VE FOUND IT...and mom said....HMMMM...guess you don't need sleeves.....

I too am a 'bigger girl' . I purchased a strapless as well -Maggie Sottero Grace style. I think strapless styles work well on plus size girls because who is going to be looking at our arms with some of the other curves we've got.
Sometimes I think plus size dresses try to cover too much. We are beautiful and should not hide under mounds of material. After all, we've obviously found great men who adore us, right?

i did my dress shopping before my paretns came up from florida. there was 2 dresses that i really liked. one had bell sleeves and another one had a real long train. when we went to buy at it david's the woman said, you know you picked the same dress off the rack 4 times(the one with the train). that was the one we purchase. my moh said i look like a princess with the veil and tiara.

When I went home and I couldn't stop thinking about it.....

Then I went back, they put on a veil and gave me flowers with it, then I started to cry.......

Re: How did you know...

mine is a longstory

originally i wanted a beach wedding in the summer so right after getting engaged, i bought this silky very modern slip dress and i was by myself- so i was sad but i cried when i put it on

then fh and i talked and he really wanted to get married in his church, so i had to start finding a more appropriate dress for a nov church wedding
'
my mom and i for the heck of it went to estelle's ...i was supposed to be looking for a dress for a friends wedding but i tried on gowns instead

my mom picked out this strapless very cinderella type gown that had what i called 'bumps' on the butt (they look like bustles but on the hips) i was liek no way will this look good but i put it on to pacify her

when i cam out i was giggling and laughing and playng around in it and when i realized the entire store was getting closer to me and they all were oohing and aaahing, i started to really look at myself in it and i began to cry

both my mom and the store clerk were like 'honey! thats the dress- if it makes you laugh one min and cry the next!'

so i bought it then and there and i cant wait to wear my 2 dresses (gown at church and slip dress at reception) very celebrity style!!!
