How did you know...

your dress was 'The One'? I love these stories! I knew when I walked out in the 5th dress and my sister burst into tears and My Mom's mouth dropped. Of course it was the one that made me cry too!

Everyone in the room stopped and said, OMG that's it and my best friend burst into tears. Plus when I looked in the mirror my whole face lit up!!!

mines weird...i had an appointment at macys manhasset which we bailed on because they made me wait 45minutes, so my mom and i snuck out. we decided to stop by bridal reflections in carle place. they 'let us in' even though we didnt' have an appnt. the women kept bringing in dresses and we hated all of them. the last one, we were like 'is this woman nuts?' It wasn't traditional. so we humored her, and when i put it on i looked at my mom and was like....holy crap, i think i love it! so of course,we brought back reinforcements for confirmation!

I knew it was the one when I saw it and I just couldnt breath it was so gorgeous. I look like a black Cinderalla in the dress. It is timeless and the whole shop stopped and watched me as I prancied around with it on in the mirror.

I was the same way. My mom and my sister started to cry too when I tried on my dress.

Re: How did you know...

I have 3 dresses that I love, and 5 that are on my 'maybe' list total. However, I keep thinking about one dress in particular. Monday I go to try it on for my mom, sis and FSIL. I'll let ya know how it goes

Re: How did you know...

I had been trying on dresses with sleeves because my mom made a point to say that 'bigger girls' should cover their arms. I found a couple that looked nice but I wasn't wowed....then the woman in the store said come on...try a strapless and it was the Maggie Sottero Bethanie and MOH said OH MY YOU'VE FOUND IT...and mom said....HMMMM...guess you don't need sleeves.....

Wow! My story is somewhat similar! I went to my second bridal store (1st one was crap) and started trying on gowns. I'm a plus size bride, so every gown I tried on I felt totally self-conscious in, especially since the other brides in the store all looked like they stepped out of a magazine with every dress they tried on.

After about 6 gowns and no luck, the salesgirl brought out a very non-traditional looking gown. She said 'trust me.' I put it on and IMMEDIATELY knew, first, because of the way it made me FEEL. It wasn't just that the dress was gorgeous, I was gorgeous in the dress. When I walked out of the dressing room with my head held high (instead of skulking to the mirror like I had with the other dresses) I knew it was the one.

Re: How did you know...

I have a great story. I went looking for dresses at a few places. I really wanted to get the best price and I did.
The day I found my dress I had tried on one that I thought I was getting but I wanted to try on another one. I have no clue as to why. I am not good at decision making. So, I tried on the second dress. The bridal store renamed the dress Chris and that is my fiancee's name and when I walked out of the fitting room the song 'At Last' came on the radio. I just stood there and cried. I ordered the dress and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I put it on, looked in the mirror, and started to cry....my mom had this wistful look on her face when I looked at her, also, so I knew that was it.

Try Lillette's Bridal in Baldwin that is where I bought my dress. A women named Pat helped me. SHe was a doll. FM me if you need some advise (I found my dress for a lot more more another bridal place) but Lillettes had for MUCH less.

Re: How did you know...

I guess my story is kinda interesting.......

On the weekend of the big blizzard, I was staying in the city at FH's apartment. It was going to be my first day shopping for a dress. I was bringing one bridesmaid and we were planning to go to RK Bridal and get ideas for my dress and some BM dresses. Well, RK was closed Sunday for the blizzard. Macys on 34th street was open. I did not think that I was interested in the lines that Macys carries but with not much to do during the blizzard, we gave it a try. My BM came from Queens (not an easy feat that day) and I met her at Macys. I tried on many gowns. There was only one that I liked. I left there very excited about it. I tried on dresses at 2 other stores after that but I went back to Macys and ordered that dress. I knew that it was the right dress when I went to another store with a bridesmaid and I had no interest in trying on dresses. My mind was made up!!! I only found this dress b/c of the blizzard (otherwise I did not plan to go to macys).

Re: How did you know...

I went to Davids Bridal and I had already had 3 dresses in mind. When I tried on the first the dress I almost started to cry I can just see myself walking down the isle with it. I figured I'd try on the other two to see if I had the same feeling and I did not. I ended up trying on the 1st one again and my heart almost skipped a beat that is how I new.

Re: How did you know...

there was no crying from me, or anyone around me actually.

I'm a two dress bride. I fell in love with the first dress when I saw it in a bride magazine. I waited a long while, then saw it on David's Bridal Online, and made an appt. to see it in person. I put it on and it made me feel like a bride. It was flowy and comfy and really beautiful. Not too much, not too little. I ordered it that day.

Months passed and I had the dress in my closet, and when I went to try it on it was too small! oops! I had gained back some weight I lost and I was not happy with the idea of having it let out, so I tried to exchange it, but the style was no longer made, so I returned it. At that point, there was no dresses in David's that I liked.

But I made one more look online, and found a gorgeous satin ivory gown, with a corset back, and champagne trim and it looked so pretty, that I thought I just had to try it on. So another appt. and 5 minutes into it, I'm buying the dress.

My two dresses are so completely different. If i were getting married in the daytime or early afternoon, my first dress would have been perfect. But since my wedding is at night, I really think my 2nd dress fits the bill and truly makes me look beautiful.

I'm very happy with my decision. Life has a funny way of working out!
