How did you know what dress you wanted?

HELP!

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I put it on!

I got the complete opposite of what I thought I wanted. I was looking for a cap sleeve a line...and got a strapless ball gown!

Just try everything on that you possibly can. Don't dismiss any style until you see it on your body.

We with me it was simple. I saw a pic of about 10 different dresses that I thought would look good. I went to a few stores and tried on all differen types. I figured out that a line and tule were NOT my style...
Then I tried on my dress...I looked in the mirrow and cried...that is how I knew it was my dress.
Hope I helped

Same here! I thought for sure my dress was going to have some sort of straps and be bright white. I ended up with a sweatheart neck, strapless gown in light ivory! I LOVE it!

If you haven't found your dress yet, try on things you normally wouldn't. You never know unless you try! Good luck!

Did you look at magazines first?

I knew I wanted that princessy look.. I tried on about 5 at 2 different places.. The bridal consultant told me that aside from the dresses I picked out she would chose a couple for me to try on.. when I saw this one dress she picked, I nearly died. I thought it was repulsive and asked my mother to please not force me to try it on.. WELL, let me tell you, I tried that dress on and when I walked out, I cried, and my mother cried.. It was THE DRESS.. looks can be VERY deceiving.. and def listen to the consultants!! Good luck!!

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I knew right off the bat that I either wanted a halter type or strapless gown with a full bottom. So I tried on those styles.

Believe me you will feel it in your bones when you try on 'the one'. I know you have heard this a million times but it is true.

My advice try on as many as you can.

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I was sitting in the reception area and saw something with beautiful beadwork (almost art) off to the side. It was so beautiful that when the consultant picked stuff out for me, I was like please let's try this on first. It was breathtaking! It complimented every single part of my body. Good parts, it accentuated.... Bad parts, it hid beautifully. This is going to sound really weird.... but I felt different inside. I felt like I sort of feel in love... with myself and the dress! I didn't want to take it off. With other dresses, I was like '
maybe' or 'It's very pretty- let's see what the other dresses are'- but this had an ethereal and different feel to it altogether. I just did not want to take it off.....

Also, My best friend had come with me to SO many boutiques and stores... She would watch me in dresses for like 30 minutes in one dress and make me turn around and around before coming to a conclusion. With this dress, It took her 30 seconds. She said 'turn around' 'sit down in it', 'let me see you walk in it', 'bend down to greet a seated guest'-----'Marisa, This is IT. You are buying this dress today. Let's go!'... And she is the most critical person I know!!!!

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I looked through TONS of mags! But when I actually went to the salons - One place wouldn't even let me try on the gown I saw because she said it will look terrible. LOL! Another place had most of what I was looking for and it DID look terrible! Definately go into salons with an idea! That's the only way you'll know! After the first two incidents. I kinda told whatever other salons I went to, my ideas and they brought out what they thought. It worked!

No you won't. I have a big bust also, and the strapless gown does WONDERS for me.

There is a gown out there for everyone...trust me!

I ALWAYS KNEW I WANTED STRAPLESS & BALLGOWN

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I am somewhat small busted so with the right pushup bra the halter will look fabulous. My butt is somewhat big but in the curvy sense. I have a modified tulle bottom which acenuates my curves.

For the bosomy woman a good support bra is all you need.

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

Ahem.. I don't need a bra if you get my drift...

I want something different and I want to have fur somewhere involved...

Am I nuts?

And I want to wear the cape or coat with fur and have my head piece be a fur band..

I am a freak and I will never find it!!!

Re: How did you know what dress you wanted?

I was going through magazines for months and I had dozes of pictures. Guess what? I didn't pick any of them. I picked something different (but not too different).

I know I wanted something either with tank sleeves or off the shoulder (I got tip of the shoulder), I knew I wanted something elegant, but simple and I know I didn't want a heavy dress (getting married in July).

Once you start trying on dresses, you will begin to notice things you like and don't like. I went to about 10 salons and I tried on about 50 gowns before finding 'the one'. Key word is 'try'.

Lots of luck to you!
