FH & I are still undecided on our wedding date. So i was just wondering how everyone decided on their date.

well i originally was going to book a saturday night in march, but our banquet manager told us that for a saturday day wedding in june we could have the same price. i really, really, love june but never thought i could afford it since its 'peak' season so i picked my date- 6/12/10- sorta in the middle!

well we first decided to go to the halls with a bunch of possible dates. we finally decided july would be the best for us (bc i teach) and friday would be more affordable. i wanted a little time from when school gets out to the wedding so july 16th it is!

I picked mine because it was close to our dating anniversary and worked around FH's grad school break and my teaching vacations.

ok dont laugh...FH is a HUGE sports fan and didnt want to miss football or playoffs and what not so he gave me 2 months to choose from that didnt have sports he watched(february and march). then i chose 4 weekends that i wouldnt have my period for the wedding or HM and from those 4 weekends got prices and chose the cheapest

We picked our date because Im off in the summers (Im a teacher) and we figured we would get married towards the end of July so it gave me some time after work to finalize all the plans, etc.

Oh, good lord... this story is longer than it needs to be so I am going to skip to the important parts:
1. I got engaged on 5/16/08 and so, the first date we went with was 5/16/2010. I wanted a long-ish engagement so we could save.
2. When we went looking at halls May was more expensive than I thought, so we moved the date up to April 9, 2010.
3. I found out you COULD get married in a church during Lent.... so then we moved it up to 3/20/10 to save even more money, and get married on a Saturday night. So, here we are.
Our dating anniversary is the 17th so it's close to that, but it's really not sentimental in any other terms, but it will be once it becomes our wedding day.

We haven't picked a date but we are considering this: James is currently a teacher so we need a summer wedding (now he wants to be a cop so that is another story). I still love the summer anyway. We decided Sats were out because it's too much money. Sunday our pastor cannot marry us, so we choose friday. We wanted a date with a 7 in it because we started dating on 12-27 and we were engaged on 8-17 and our parking spot when we were engaged was 127. 7 is also God number (or so FH told me) we are pretty set on August 27,2010 or september 17,2010.
lol I did not base my wedding date on when i'll have my period but thats too funny. I plan on skipping it should it be that week.

Originally we wanted Nov 09 but it turned out to be still considered peak season and it was just too much. The only thing we had to have was a Saturday night. Our BM told us if we did January we could get a better deal. If we did January I wanted to place to be decorated for the holidays, therefore its 1/2/10.

The Church pretty much 'picked' being they were pretty booked already and I didn't want Memorial Day weekend with the traffic and all! We had originally wanted a different date, but couldn't get it so the first date around the date we originally wanted was how we chose!

I am a teacher so I knew I wanted a summer wedding. My FH hates the heat, so I needed to pick the first weekend of the summer, hoping and praying that it isn't too hot yet, lol. Ideally, I was looking for the 26th which is a Saturday, but the price difference from a Saturday to Sunday was huge, so we went with the 06/27/10:)

so many teachers.... I was asked 'who's the teacher?' everywhere we went and now I understand why.
But seriously, our thought process was that we liked Halloween because it fits both of our personalities, but then we realized we would kinda ruin the holiday because now it would be our anniversary, not Halloween. Also, we would have to rush to get Halloween on a decent weekend day or wait a very long time.
So we decided on a Friday the 13th. We picked out all the Friday the 13th's on the calendar from 2008-2011. The first one was way to soon, the next two were Feb 2009and March 2009 which were doable, then there was Aug 2010 and May 2011. We decided on Aug 2010 b/c it is a great month for an outdoor wedding and gave us time to save while not feeling like it was millions of years away.

With FH's working and racing schedule, we had a window of Jan-March for the wedding. With that time frame, I wanted to do New Years Eve, but it was going to be too expensive because alot of halls do big parties that night, so then i thought to do New Years Day but too many people were complaining about having hangovers or not being able to go out for New Years, so then i picked the 2nd. Which is actually my (favorite) aunt and uncles wedding date, they have been married for 20 years and said that i can use their date. Plus my uncle will be the one walking me down the aisle

We knew we wanted to get married in May. Figured mid may would be a safe bet...not too hot, not too cold and a decent amount of flowers. Looked at the calendar and saw 5/15/10 and just loved the number combo.

We originally wanted to have a Halloween wedding, as we both love it, and then somehow, ended up with 11/13/10..I guess we liked the number combo?? LOL

Basically we got a really good deal for July. Plus since I'm a teacher we could take our HM right after which was a big plus. I really wanted a fall wedding, but it was more expensive and we would have to wait on the HM.

I started out wanting a July, Saturday, Evening wedding. July and evening continued to be my non negotiating factors but since we are footing the bill and would like to build upon more than just the one day, we're now getting married on a Thursday. It was a no brainer decision and our family has been really receptive to the idea. They say, 'bring on the 4 day weekend!'
