How did you put your programs together???

How did you put your programs together???

I bought a two hole punch today and some gold fasteners.

The fasteners do not allow the program to open properly.

I have seen ribbon so many times, but that looks like it is difficult to deal with.

I would hate to staple it, but I want to make it easy for me..

Any suggestions????

Thanks

I did the programs with the hole punch and ribbon... the ribbon wasn't that difficult. DH and I assembled them together. (This of course presumes that you don't mind the look of the ribbons!)

First, get an ALL METAL hole punch (no plastic handles, they break quickly).

Print all programs. If you have several pages, insert those pages and make a neat stack. Eyeball where you think the 2 holes should be on the program 'spine'. Run 2 pencil lines down the spine side of the stack, to represent the centers of each hole.

Now complete 1 program:
With the program folded, punch a 1/2 hole with the pencil mark in the center. Open program. All pages should be punched, and the hole should be relatively circular.

Cut one piece of ribbon, fairly long. Thread it through the holes and tie a bow. Now trim the edges. Untie it. This is your 'template ribbon'. Cut all other ribbons the same length.

Now punch holes in all remaining programs and thread & tie the ribbons.

it's not that time consuming, and it avoids the issue of having your programs not fold well, or open well......

hope this helps......

we used a one hole punch and used ribbon to tie them through....it wasn't too difficult, but I also had a team of 4 OOTer's plus my best friend helping, so it went fast! This of course was the night before the wedding that they got done!! yikes! I need to post some pics!

definitely. A 2 or 3 hole just makes it more difficult to align. Don't worry about the holes being perfectly identical.... the ribbon masks minor imperfections After printing, the assembly process only took us about 1-2 hours for 50 programs.

I can't stress enough that you need an all metal hole punch. I went through 3 plastic ones (From michaels) in about 3 min.... then I went to office max and got a metal one. That one worked well.

thanks the program came from michaels wedding isle, and the ribbon (which coordinated perfectly... the pic makes them look like diff shades) came from their ribbon section. Oh, use a ribbon that's roughly 3/8 of an inch wide. Thicker ones will bunch, and thinner ones won't fill the hole completely.......

good luck!

I agree with portjeff bride. Use a single hole punch and just eye ball where the center of the spine is. I think this would probably be a lot easier than the fasteners! Here are a couple of not great pics of mine.

ribbon is EASY. punch two holes in the middle, thread the ribbon through and tie on the outside.

here are my programs

the inside portion was printed on vellum paper which added a nice touch
