Re: How did you tell?

I posted my story months ago, but I'll briefly mention it again...
My due date was 5 days before my 2nd anniv, so we told everyone 'Guess what we're doing for our anniversary ??' -- Having a baby !!!

And sure enough, on our anniversary, at ten to midnite, my water broke ! (and he was born the next day) - at least we each get our own 'day' !

Im sure there are some creative stories out there.
Come on ladies, share your stories !

Re: How did you tell?

This is a great thread. I dream of telling my DH and my parents that I am pregnant. Maybe I will get a great idea.

Re: How did you tell?

I'd love to do it the way I once saw a commericial where a couple was getting ready to go out to a dinner or maybe a broadway show (they were very dressed up), so the man goes to his closet to get his shoes and in between all his lined up shoes on the floor of the closet, is a pair of tiny baby shoes! He looks at his wife and he knows!! The commercial is bettter than I am describing it but it was really beautiful, as for FIL's & parents, I am not sure yet.

Re: How did you tell?

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll have a big 'telling' moment, since I'm being so carefully monitored, and Pat is with me at nearly every doctors appointment. I guess it will be special anyway, but not as special and exciting as seeing the baby shoes in the closet.

Re: How did you tell?

My FSIL just told me that she is pregnant. She said that she had a wedding question.
She said, ' Do you mind if Colm (her husband) and I bring a guest?'
I thought - that is kinda forward and a tad on the rude side, but whatever. I reluctantly said, ' I don't mind.'
Then she said, 'Do you want to know who it is?'
I told her that I did. Then she said it would be a baby!!!!!

Re: How did you tell?

What a cool post!!! FI is a huge Jets fan, so I hope to find a little Jets outfit and leave it where he's sure to find it.

For my parents and FIL's - if it was around a holiday - maybe casually mention how the table seems small and we'll need an extra seat next year . . . or maybe put a sonogram pic in a holiday card or something.

I have so many ideas!!!

Re: How did you tell?

I always think of buying one of those 'I love Grandma' bibs and wrapping it up with a card that says, 'Please keep this at your house for me to use' or something like that.

I would never be able to hold the news from my parents until my 1st sonogram. My mom would know anyway, I am sure of that.

Re: How did you tell?

I saw those little baby outfits for any football teams (husband is a huge Raider fan) that would be so cute to bring that home one day and wrap it up so he could open it and see the little black and silver onesie with his favorite team on it!

Re: How did you tell?

The way I told my DH was not a very romantic story. We had just gotten home from work, and walked into an ant swarm in the kitchen. It was a week and a half after 9/11, and I was in a horrible mood and had been feeling crappy for awhile without really knowing why. I bought an EPT on the way home just to see. Sure enough...well, I walk out of the bathroom and into the kitchen where DH is killing ants and announce, 'I'm pregnant.' Very matter of fact. It didn't register w/DH right away b/c of the ant distraction.

Since we were in CA, I couldn't tell my parents or his in person, so I had to tell them on the phone. It was no less exciting, though. My Mom was so excited that she screamed and couldn't stay on the phone - she was too busy jumping up and down (I do wish I could've seen THAT!)

Re: How did you tell?

Oh, and I just wanted to say to JennRenee - you don't need a big 'telling' moment or surprise to share the complete joy, wonder and excitement of becoming parents. I am so sympathetic to your situation, and I think that it's wonderful that Pat is with you for all your appointments. One of these days when the doctors have great news, think of how thankful you'll be that both you and he will hear the news together! I keep saying my prayers for you!!

Re: How did you tell?

I am in the same boat as JennRenee, but feel so special that Steve comes to all the Dr. appointments with me as well. It would be so nice to be able to tell him that Santa left more than the usual this Christmas

Re: How did you tell?

First I want to say to Jenn and Michelle that I completely agree that it is great that your DH's are with you at the appointments and it will not take away from the excitement--My Brother and SIL went thru all the tests, shots the whole nine yards--very trying time for them --well we were at my cousins wedding and they got us all together and told us they were pregnant with twins(they are a year and a half now) but let me tell you I didnt stop crying for at least 1/2 hour --because I could truly appreciate how happy they were when it finally happened---thinking about it now brings me to tears because my SIL couldnt believe how I reacted but I was sooooo happy for them that things had finally worked out--- but i wouldnt wish twins on anyone!!!
ok so now to michelle's question-- no news here!! but we have been talking about it almost daily--and I hope to stop the pill by Feb-- so of course it is all i think about!!!!
