How did your pets react to your baby?

How did your pets react to your baby?

I am not pg yet but I am curious as to how my 2 cats will react when we have a baby. They are both very laid back but very attached to my DH and I! Anyone have any problems with their pets adjusting?

We have two very clingy cats and the only problem we have had is when I BF the Baby my little female cat wants to be on my lap. The cats pay no attention to the baby. They know he's here and they'll approach him and smell him then walk away.

This picture is when we first came home from the hospital. I was in the hospital for 9 days so I thought my cat really missed me!

My male cat was VERY UPSET. He actually destroyed my sons brand new nursery, he sprayed all over his rug. It was horrible.

I have a male cat and two female dogs. The male cat sort of takes it or leaves it with the baby. I've caught him napping in her crib a few times (she's still in the bassinet) so we might have problems there. But otherwise he's so laid back, no problem at all with him in terms of him acting out. The dogs however think it's THEIR baby! They follow me around whenever I'm holding her and they actually growled at my neighbor when she tried to pick the baby up the other night. If the baby starts crying, the little one (Sprinkles) will run and find me and start whimpering. We put a baby gate up in her room (just for precaution) and they are forever sitting just outside the door when she's napping. I never thought they would take so well to her. I feel very lucky.

My Beemer (3 year old kitty) is very clingy and needy. She basically doesn't care that the baby is in the house...she hates that the baby takes time away from her. She does need time and attention when the baby is sleeping or playing in her exersaucer etc...I do keep the baby's room door closed or else Beemer would end up thinking the crib was her new bed. I also made sure to take things out slowly. Before the baby came I had the swing, bouncy seat, bassinet all out. I gave Beemer time to get used to all the new 'stuf' in the house since that can cause stress.
It has been a bit of a challenge but manageable.

Yes - but in his defense, he was my baby -so I think he felt replaced. I don't know. But yes he was neutered.
