How do I book my church.... getting a little nervous
Hey guys! So we're getting ready to start booking our stuff in the next few weeks. How do I book my church. What is the first step? I'm catholic and my auntie mentioned something about needind my baptismal certificate. My mom is looking for it and can't find it, and can't remember where I was baptized. Some church in Queens from back in the day. What if she can't find it?! Also my FH isn't catholic, will the church make a big deal. And my mom still lives in the parish but I don't, I live in Maryland now. Will they refuse to take me? I have always wanted a church wedding, at the same church where I had my communion and confirmation.....
Please help!

All churches are different. I would just call the church and tell them you would like to get married at their church and would like to set up an appointment (this is either with the priest or an older couple, they just ask you basic questions to make sure you are 'qualified' to get married there) and during that appt. they will explain the entire process.
Some girls, including myself, have been told that it is too early to book the church for a 2009 ceremony, be persistent and express how important it is to get married in THAT church, etc... and they might pencil you in.
Also, you dont need your baptismal certificate for 6 months before the wedding.
I dunno about the fact that your FH isnt catholic, so i cant help with that part.
HTH!

Steph... the question about your fiance not being catholic my friend had the same issue. Her husband was Catholic but didnt make all his sacraments-so basically it was like he had to make communion and confirmation. But that was by his own choice they wanted to receive eucharist at the ceremony.
Your hubby doesnt have to go through all that. The only difference will be that if he doesnt become catholic, they wont serve communion at the church. Other than that, you should have no problems. There are tons of people who are catholic and marrying someone of a different religion. Most priests are cool about it and perform the ceremony they just dont give communion.
In a nutshell, the ceremony will be exactly the same just no bread and wine. Sorry I rambled a little bit. Let me know what happens good luck!

Yes you will need the baptism certificate but like mentioned before you give it 6 months before the wedding, regardless if your fh is catholic or not he needs to give his too...Fh and I are getting married in a catholic church, he is catholic and I am not and they asked for mine too.
What religion is your FH, they told me I dont have to do anything bc although i am not catholic, my religion is still part of christianity...but definitely go to the church and talk to them and see what they say.
