How do I deal with an extremely opinionated MOH?

How do I deal with an extremely opinionated MOH?

My MOH is EXTREMELY opinionated.. to a point where I want to take her head and use it as a bowling ball.

She has an opinion on everything... whether good or bad, she puts her two cents in on everything about my wedding.. even when she clearly has no idea what the hell she is talking about.

She will comment on EVERYTHING-and everyone. And when I bring up certain ideas.. she tells me EXACTLY how she feels about it, and makes me feel like poop if she thinks the idea is bad.

I know she means well, but she is annoying. She has comments about everything and shes getting on my nerves. How do I deal with her WITHOUT sounding like a biotch?

Should i just keep my mouth shut??

Thanks ladies. You guys are great (as always)

I have one of those - she's my best friend too, which makes it even harder to say something.

I stood up for myself. I told her that I appreciated her opinions greatly, but when it comes round to her time, I'm sure she wouldn't want someone putting her ideas and sentiments down all the time.

She got the point, and our relationship's never been better.

Dont let her get to you Janie. And let her know that she has a right to an opinion but go about saying it in a different way. NOBODY but I mean NOBODY should make you feel like crap...especially your MOH. My MOH is a VERY opinionated person as well, and she does see things differently sometimes, but she always tells me that it my wedding and that I should do as I see fit-shes here to support my every decision.

Talk to her! All will be well!

At least she gives her opinion my girls really don't say anything-- may just tell her to tone it down and take a chill pill :):)

Yea, ignore her opininion, let her talk all she wants but then do what you feel is right

Look at the bright side, better that she wants to be involved!

GENTLY remind her that this is your wedding, and that she will have her time eventually.

I am dealing with this too- it's not easy since everyone has their own ideas. tell her you need support, not a wedding planner.

It is hard b/c they think they are helping, but you just have to ignore her, or you will drive yourself crazy. Just try to smile and nod. Hang in there!

I agree too! If you don't gently do it now, it is going to boil up inside and you might yell at her or harbor resentment.
I was having a similar issue with my MOH/sister, and finally I had it and was like 'if you don't like my ideas, then you don't have to be in MY wedding' I feel bad, but she has improved 110% since (and she apologized)!

I wish my MOH was opinionated - one of her most frequent sayings is, 'whatever you think'. It's starting to get annoying! PLUS, we just haven't hung out a lot or been in contact a lot since I got engaged...she has never had even one serious boyfriend, so I think she is feeling distanced from me (and a little jealous) - I hope we grow closer again towards the wedding

I agree. Although she may just be giving her honest opinion. Try not to take it to personally and let her know how you feel. I'm sure she's not trying to be a pain in the a$$

This is kinda of funny .....because I am that girl ...My friend and I are getting married 1 month and 1 day apart so we decided it would be better if we werent in each other wedding parties just to much

so anyway I am the opinionated one...and one day she just told me Look i really love you but just hear me our before you open up your month and think about what i am tell you before you react ....and she was right and I wasnt upset with her at all!

I dont know if that would work with your friend - but it worked here - I know that she didnt mean it B***y but it did need to be said and I am happy for it because now we can still do our planning together

I would tell her that although you appreciate her thoughts and opinions, sometimes what she says really hurts your feelings. Tell her that you are putting a lot of time, effort, and money into this wedding and when she says some of the things she says, she makes you feel really bad.
I am sure this is not her intention, and if you clue her into it, she will back off a little.
If this doesn't work, take what she says with a grain of salt, and do what you want to do.

I don't think you should keep your mouth shut, it will just make you crazy. I would just tell her the next time she offers an opinion. If it is positive, tell her thanks for the positive input, but please don't comment on absolutely everything, or if it is negative, tell her, you respect her feelings/opinions (or value them or whatever) but she needs to be a little more aware of how she is making you feel when she doesn't like one of your ideas. For instance . . . just now you MOH said 'x', and it really hurt because __________'.
