How do I dress

How do I dress

For just attending the ceremony at a church?

A colleague is getting married, and I wasn't invited to the reception (we met afetr she put it all together) but she invited me to the church

I never did this before - it will be a Friday right after work, so I can't get all decked out - would nice pants and a blouse be OK, or a nice skirt and shirt - something that I would wear for work?

I normally wouldn't wear a work outfit to a wedding, but I feel no one will really see me anyway because it's the ceremony, all eyes will be on the bride...

Input please!

also - do I bring a gift for just attending the ceremony???

Re: How do I dress

we recently attended a friends wedding where we had a good amount of time between teh church and the rceeption. Instead of gong to teh church all dressed for the wedding, I wore a suit - not too corporate looking but a nice dress suit with a jacket from ann taylor - and then we changed before the actual wedding. I think it is totally fine to wear nice pants and a top, you just want to look nice. JMO, HTH!

As for a gift, I don;t think its necessary but maybe nice to send a little something.

I think just a nice skirt and shirt would be great! Or maybe bring something a bit dressier and change into that after work??

About the gift, I think a gift would be a nice gesture :) JMO

thanks everyone - I will dress to work a bit nicer that day - its Dec 23 so there will be holiday things going on anyway - I wont look too out of place...

I'm thinking wine is a good idea for a gift - thanks for the help everyone!!!

A skirt and shirt is fine. People came to my church in jeans and I have gone to others in jeans.
