Re: how do i get a headhunter?
go to hotjobs.com
when doing a job search put in staffing agencies
and a huge list of openings will pop up. Send in your resume and believe me they will call and they wont stop calling
best of luck. I personally have had a bad experience with them, but I wish you much luck and if you have any questions about a specific agency please feel free to FM me (I have dealt with A LOT of agencies)

When I had my resume on Monster I would get calls from headhunters. Have you tried posting there?

Sonia, I sent you FM. Have you tried Michael Page International?
try looking in the sunday NYT in your section...they usually have some headhunters there...they are usually the shorter ads...

I knew someone who found a good finance position with Robert Half Associates.

If you're even a little above entry level your best option is to talk to a mentor or other higher level employee from your previous job and ask them if they can suggest someone in your industry.
I found that the newspapers are more recruiting offices and resume mills. The referrals I got from my former managers were very industry specific (marketing in consumer goods) and were much more interested in me and found some good positions.
