How do I handle this?

How do I handle this?

My wedding is 90 people. I am having one MOH and one BM. My FH is having one best man, no ushers.

I have a third very very close friend and I totally left her out. b/c there are no showers, nobody is aware of how the ceremony goes, and I fear that when she sees 2 other poeple walk down the aisle, she will feel left out. (she doesn't even know my BM, and has met my MOH once b/c my closest friends live all over)

How can I include her? A reading is OUT b/c I'm having someone else do that. I am thinking that I can ask her to be the witness to the signing of the marraige license and Ketubah (Jewish wedding contract) That is an important role.

ANy other way to include her? ITs too late to ask her as a BM b/c it's only 8 weeks away....help!

Having her be a witness to the signing of the marriage license and Ketubah is one choice or maybe have her hand out programs or something before the ceremony if you are having them........how many readings do you have? (sorry I am not Jewish) - in a Catholic mass we have 2 so maybe you can add a second reading and have her do that......

HTH!!

Being the witness is definitely an honor.

being a witness is nice. can she make a speach or some kind of toast at the rh? i know usually the moh does it. but maybe there is something she can do at the rh.

I'm in a very similar situation--we have 2 co-MOH and 2 co-best men, and I wanted my closest friend from college to be involved, but not be a bridesmaid (I didn't want a large wedding party--just keep it simple). She's essentially an 'honorary bridesmaid'--she's doing a reading (we're having 2), serving as an usher, handing out programs, saying a few words (though not an all-out toast, I think), and being all-around helpful on the day of. The co-MOH are also asking her to organize the bachelorette party, so it gives her another important thing to do. I would have loved for her to sign my ketubah, but my rabbi said only men, which kinda sucked.

Be honest with her, that you wanted a small bridal party but wanted to honor her in other ways--she'll appreciate that more than finding out the day of. Oh, and if she does something big like sign the ketubah or act as a witness, acknowledge her in the program as having done so. That usually makes people feel like they're a part of the wedding. (Maybe that's just my theatre background; you see your name in a program and you feel like you've done something.)

thanks for all your advice, ladies! I don't know what I would do without this site.
I am going to take a combination of all of your advice.....
She will be the witness to the Ketubah signing, have her name on the program, and will hand out programs.....
I feel so much better!

I think having her sign the Ketubah and marriage license are really great suggestions, and should make her feel special and included.

My cousin included some add'l people in his wedding by having 7 different people read the Seven Blessings (part of the jewish wedding ceremony). Not sure if you are already doing this or not ...
