i have no idea!!! we have bought most of our furniture at IKEA becuse it's cheap and we get to take it with us then and not wait for delivery. I'm sure it's not the best quality...but it looks pretty! i usually judge by weight.....although i'm not sure if that's how i should do it or not! good luck!!!

It depends on what you are getting....
If you are lookng for wood furniture (dressers, dining chairs, tables) look under the decorative part to see if the wood is solid, pressboard or veneered. If it is a cheaper wood used in the structural part, then it will not last as long (Except IKEA, which seems to be indestructable no matter what it is made with. )
If you are looking at plush furniture (beds, couches, loveseat, etc) look at the stitching to make sure it is a durable stitch. Also, couches & such that can be made to your specifications (foam, foam with down, or down) are usually more expensive, but also usually more durable.
The finishes on certain types of wood/metal furniture may also jack up the price.
