How do I reset my computer to the factory settings if I can't find my rescue disk?
I have a virus that can't be cleaned, and I wanted to just reset my computer. I saved all of the important files to disk.

Did you try going back to a restore point?

How do you know it can't be cleaned? Mcafee has many downloads for free where you can clean viruses.....you can also go to Adware and download this. Or Hijack this or from Microsoft.....

do you have a windows cd? 7 times out of 10, this is the same cd as the restore cd...

McAfee says it can't delete or quarantine the file, and DH can't remember what he did with the disks when we moved. I'm being lazy about going through the boxes in the attic, and was hoping there was an easy way to restore the settings.
