Do I put our names and zero????

yes your names and then 0
or I would leave it blank and write underneath the line 'Sorry we wont be able to make it'

I agree, I always like to write a note, especially when I can't attend

I agree also. I feel it is more personal when you write a note, especially when you can't come. I was surprised when i received a no response from a close family member and have been wondering why they can't attend. They didn't write a note.
