How do I take a Pre Cana class when I live in CA and am getting married back in NY??

How do I take a Pre Cana class when I live in CA and am getting married back in NY??

My FH and I live in California but are having the wedding back on LI (both from there). We would like to have a priest marry us from the parish we both grew up going to, but we wont physically be in NY to take the time to go to the courses there before the wedding.
Anyone know how to go about this? Haven't spoken to the church yet, I am hoping they will have a solution.

Hi, are u getting married at the church? I would assume so since you want to take pre cana. Your church sets you up with pre cana..Im getting married sept 09 but am doing pre cana in jan. you have to check with your church cause they only do a few classes a year..hope this helped..

Hi, thanks for your reply... we are actually going to get married in the church with just our families for the sake of being married in the eyes of the church. Then on our actual wedding day we plan to have another ceremony at the same place as our reception (we want to have the ceremony outside). Our biggest issue is being able to get back to NY for classes. Can a priest marry us even if we dont take pre cana with him I wonder? I am sure we can find a church to take it at here in CA.

Yeah im sure you can do pre cana in ca..your church should be able to help you with that info, I would try calling them..also sometimes pre cana can be done in a weekend..so maybe if you had to you come up here for a weekend and do it..
