How do i tell my dad i hate this song???

Ok girls My dad wants to dance with me to 'Daddys little girl' as the father daughter dance. Well i absolutly HATE HATE HATEEEEEEEEEEEE this song. I have even tried to sit here and listen to it and i can't! I just hate it! How can i tell him this?? Should i just let it be and deal with it?? I don't wanna upset him but i think he really wants that song! i dont know what to do. MY moh said she thinks i should tell him and see what he says.

just be like 'oh dad did you hear this song? (play one that you do like) I love this song!! and i just heard it and thought of you! what do u think?' or something like that so its not like your telling him u hate the one he chose, but instead sounds like u were just listening to the radio or whatever and this song came on and u loved it and it reminded you of him

I tred that lol i played i loved her first and he liked it but then he said he wants to use daddys little girl. Thats how i found out he wanted it! :(

oh damn lol..umm then i guess just be honest and tell him that his song isnt one of your favorites and ask if he wouldnt mind listening to a few other options..tell him it means alot to u to find the right choice, that shows exactly how special your dad is to u, and a song that you will both love

It sounds like the song is significant to your dad and maybe you should just use that song since he really loves it.

I would try and suggest another song again. Tell him that you want your song to be special to the two of you. However if he is set on it,, maybe it will make it special to you after you dance to it.

I'm not into that song either. I think that you should just tell your Dad the truth and that you want to pick a special song together that so many others haven't already used.

First of all not everyone dances to this song...seems like nowadays 'I loved her first' and 'Butterfly Kisses' are like the 2 most popular songs.....

I agree, I dont like the song either. My dad is not the emotional type at ALL...one day, and I forget how it came up, he actually happened to say 'daddys little girl' was what he wanted to dance to.

I was so touched and he had given it that much thought there there was NO WAY i would have said no. I even asked the DJ if there was a different version(thats how much i dont like the original) but there wasnt so we used the original and honestly i cant imagine having used anything else b/c thats what my dad had in mind for me when he thought of 'our' dance and JMO but to me thats very special.

Again though JMO, good luck in whatever you choose!!!

I can understand your feelings. I don't mind to song. the words are really nice,

If my dad picked the song, even if i didnt like it all that much, I would use it anyway. (unless the words of the song were just NOT right for it). Its nice that he put in the thought and choose it.

if you really are DEAD set against it, just tell him how you feel and that you both can work together to choose another one. Make a night out of it.

That's tough... but if you want honest opinions, IMO If my dad were still alive I'd take the opportunity to dance with him to whatever song he wanted.
Music means different things to so many people and it sounds like when he hears that song, he connects with it to you. I'd pick another song that I wanted and make it a point to dance with him again later... But does everything down to the song youre daddy wants to dance with you have to be a hundred percent what 'we' want?... Just saying it's something to think about. FH parents want us to play their wedding song at some point, and it is The Carpenters, 'We've Only just Begun' which I think may be the number cheesiest, lamest, song out there to date, but it will get played and FH says he wants to make sure he cuts in to dance with his mom and i to his dad, so it's like we kinda get a parent dance in there...
I guess I wouldn't want to hurt anybody's feelings, especially my parents, everyting else on that day is completely about me.... Hope that helped. Let us know what happens.

yeah i hear ya! we will see i might just mention it to him and see what he says . i dont know if his heart is set on it or he just picked it cause he likes it. Thanks ladies for all your help!
