How do I tell people 'No' tactfully when...

Original post by StreetDoc6531

they ask to try on my engagement ring???

It's probably silly but I've had a few people recently ask to try on my ring. I'm a little superstitious and was always told not to let other people try on your ring. BUT... I always feel funny saying no. Doesthis bother anybody else or am I being totally rediculous??

My sister is the only one that has tried it on. She took it out of the jewelry cleaner while I was in the shower, and I caught her

When people ask, I just say 'I almost never take it off - but you can hold my hand for 10 minutes if you want!!' They get the point.

WOW!!!!

I am in SHOCK!!!

No one has asked me this... I think that is so rude!

Why can't they just look at it!

I think - if you are afraid of being mean - the advice some of the girls gave here is good... say sorry but it is bad luck, etc etc and they will probably move on....

I tell people I never take it off, which is true (except when I am putting lotion on after a shower). I am supersticious and think someone wearing my ring is bad luck.

I let some family and friends try it on when they ask. What I was always told is that it is bad luck to let someone try it on their left hand ring finger.

I heard it's bad luck for the other person, not the bride!

Oh wow....I never had anybody ask me to try on my ring! I think that's kind of rude (personally). Why don't you jokingly say to them that it's bad luck and usually people would back off. Hope this helps!!
