We are having difficulty booking our flights for the HM-- it is a multi-leg trip involving all sorts of sizes of planes, etc.
So, we were thinking we would book through a travel agent since it seems easier--
Do they just make commission off the booking, or do we need to pay them a fee??

Re: How do travel agents make money?
In my experience you don't have to pay a fee. The agents get a kick back from the hotels and airlines (etc...) that they book with.

thanks Jen-- that is what I thought. My only experience with agents has been for business travel- then I don't care who gets paid!!

I priced the my honeymoon on my own and then trough a travel agent and the agent was actually cheaper. I used Sharon at MSW Travel a vendor on here.

Yes, I find the agent usually has the best deals and they are easier to work with for multi flight trips.

Acutally, if it is just airline tickets, airlines don't pay commission anymore so most agencies do have a serive charge for just airline tickets. The price of the fees will vary depending on what agency you go to.
