how do u guys feel about

ur mom's wedding dresses?
I was talking to my MOH about what to do with my dress afterwards so she said to save for my kids. I really dont think they will want mine or will think its 'AWESOME' as I think of it.
but then I thought about my mom's dress, and since I was little I always thought she was GORGEOUS. she had this pale blue chiffon dress with widening sleeves, to me she looked like a princess! she also had a pale blue with lace edge veil and a huge bok of white calla lilies!

my mom on the other hand hated her whole look

how do u guys feel?

My mom's dress was very 1970s. She looked beautiful -- but I would never wear the dress. It just wasnt my style

My mom's dress was nice.....for the time that she got married. But I would NEVER wear it. I plan to save mine, not for a daughter to wear, but *maybe* to make a christening outfit out of for my children.

I am not really sure what i will do with my dress since i am not having kids.
i did know someone though that had her mom make a bassanett (sp) cover out of hers. It was beautiful and its something that can be handed down from generation to generation.

My friend has been doing that with her dress. She made a whole bunch of things for special occasions. Most recently she made my friend a garter from her wedding dress

My mom saved hers and used her veil to make mine and my sisters veils for our communion and we are planning on using her dress for baptism outfits.

I am Jewish, so I really have no idea what I will be able to make out of mine.
I am thinking maybe to shorten it and have it as a cocktail dress for whenever I will do a wedding party in my home country

Like the other girls said, my mom's dress was beautiful for her time but not for me....my mom also weighed 90lbs when she got married...i can barely get one leg in that dress!

personally, although my mom looked beautiful in her wedding dress, it not exactly my style. Very 70s hippish lol.

I also can only hope I am as skinny as she was in her dress. Even if she still had it (which I don't think she does) I probably would not fit into it.

I was just thinking the same thing. My grandma's dress was to die for - so so so beautiful. She had an 18 inch waist when she got married! It would never fit.

My moms dress was very beautfiull...You would think getting married in teh 80's it would be shoulder pads and a big thing on her head but not at all....After I purchased my dress I realized we both had the same taste bc I chose lace and so did she.. She had a hat with a veil tho.

My mom was the typical 80s bride (Poofy sleeves, crazy hair, BMs in different pastel colors with matching parasols). The dress is beautiful and her mother made it, but not my style. She knew and didn't even offer it to me to wear.

I seriously probably will try to sell mine. My daughter definately will not have any interest in wearing it...because we are polar opposites.

As for my moms dress. I remember that it was very pretty, and typical of those 1960's dresses. My mom actually never properly preserved her gown, so it started to get discolored. So, she made me several Halloween costumes out of it. For Kindergarten, I was a bride, with her veil and everything! Needless to say, I had an awesome costume that year! I wish I had pictures to post cause I must say..I was adorable Then a couple of years later...she made a cape to go over the dress and added a crown.. and I was Miss America
