I seriously probably will try to sell mine. My daughter definately will not have any interest in wearing it...because we are polar opposites.

As for my moms dress. I remember that it was very pretty, and typical of those 1960's dresses. My mom actually never properly preserved her gown, so it started to get discolored. So, she made me several Halloween costumes out of it. For Kindergarten, I was a bride, with her veil and everything! Needless to say, I had an awesome costume that year! I wish I had pictures to post cause I must say..I was adorable Then a couple of years later...she made a cape to go over the dress and added a crown.. and I was Miss America

that is soooo cute! it wouldve been so cool if u had a pic and then compare it to ur wedding self

I have to see if my aunt has any pics that were my grandmothers because all my pics from when I was a kid were destoyed..dont ask...it makes me very upset. But I was really adorable, she did my makeup and everything...actually come to think of it...maybe it was kind of creepy..I looked like one of those kiddie beauty pagent contestants..

My parents got married in 1971. My mom's dress was pretty (for 1971). Wearing it on my wedding day never crossed my mind once..LOL

I'm going to save my dress but I'm not even going to bother having it preserved. Maybe I'll try it on after 20 years to see how much of me will fit into it.. haha

my mom bought her dress at a local shop for under $20. may parents wedding was very 'un-traditional' and just kind of thrown together, ceremony in the front yard, reception in the back, friends made food, etc.

growing up I wanted to use my mothers dress, but it was/is opposite of what I pictured myself in. I like BIG POOFY gowns, her's is simply and straight.
She did not have it preserved, so its now yellow.. and WAY too small for me. I actually used to wear it to play dress up up until I was 12 and it no longer fit.

I was thinking of using some pieces to make a garter or bok wrap.

I was also thinking of using my FMILs veil, she has all boys and her veil is in great shape!

i actually just found out yesterday that my mom borrowed her friends dress, i always thought she rented it lol well talk about something borrowed!

im gonna save it, theyre probably not gonna be in love it like i am but i figured they ciould incorporate a piece of it.... an 09er egem used part of her moms dress to make her veil and it was gorgeous!!!! what a great way to incorporate that i think

I just had this converstion with my mother. As I would never wear her dress, I wanted to take the beading from it and add it to my wedding day decor. And with the dress my Grandmother wore to my moms wedding(which is blue) I am taking all her beading and crystals as well as taking a peice of the blue dress and having my neighbor make me a garder with it.

my mom knew better than to ask me to wear her dress. i wish i had a pic! pouffy everywhere and a hat! and her BMs were in all different pastels with hats. they looked like gone with the wind! that said, i like everyone's idea of repurposing it into a christening outfit...
