I put Doctors Joe and Jane Smith and when I got the list back from the calligrapher to proofread, the system changed it to The Doctors Smith. Which was fine with me as well...

I dont' knwo what to tellyou for the inner envelope, as I did not have one.

We did 'The Doctors Smith' - perfectly correct etiquette-wise, plus it sounds cool!

We did Drs. John and Jane Smith - I just do not care for the way The Doctors Smith looks.

ETA: No inner envelope, so I can't help you with that.

I didn't address my cousin (who is a doctor) as DR. I just put the regular Mr. & Mrs.
