we have been really good so far but I feel like we can be doing better.....
1/2 my paycheck goes directly into our jt 'wedding' acct and so does his.....
but I still feel like we should be doing more? FH loves to go out to eat, so he refuses to cut down on that.....
any other ideas?

we also have money from each of our paychecks go right into our wedding account. other than that we havent done a great job at cutting back spending.

just be smart with your vendors and dont get carried away. do the basics..then add on when u can..

we had an original budget and we each needed to contribute 50% to the joint account.
we dont have any set rules on how to do this as long as it gets done
lol

We hardly do anything that costs money lol. I put pratically my enitre paycheck into our savings. We don't go out to eat, and we use coupons when we do. We both bring our lunch to work everyday, which is a HUGE way to save money. FH works in the city and walks to work so he doesn't have to buy a Metro Card. We live like paupers but I know it will be worth it when we put the down payment on a house!

each month we move money into savings. and as Barb said, just being smart w/vendors. I research only for things we have set on our budget. working out great for us.

my FH has stuck in his head that my parents should be paying for everything. however this is not the circumstance. my parents had a set amount aside for the wedding & that's the money they are using.
my expenses are the band, photo/video, favors, pictures at the Botanical Gardens, FHs wedding band, invitations & any other paper items i want (menus, programs, etc). i take whatever money i have left over at the end of the month after bills & that goes into our joint account.
FH has money in a CD for a couple of years know & that's the money he uses for his wedding expenses. (my e-ring, my wedding band, the Church, & the honeymoon)
this might not be the ideal way of doing things but it works for us.

We put $$ away weekly from our paychecks too…And the only other thing we’ve done is stopped hanging out (which sux), but it’s what we have to do.

yeah its not so much for the wedding, although thats a big part of it, but its also that whatever is left from the vendors and what not will be used towards a downpayment....in addition to the $ we get back from the wedding..
I usually bring lunch to work, except FRIDAYS!!! PIZZA TIME!

FH is unemployed at the moment... so we really cant save anything because every measly dollar of unemployment goes to rent... I pay all the other bills so only im saving for the wedding at this point... thank god for my mom!

Ahhh... we don't so much because of all our other monthly financial obligations. Use coupons whenever you can - it sounds silly because it's like 'what's 20 cents gonna get me' but after a while it will add up.

We both put a certain amount in our account each month. There have been some months I have been a little short and FH always covers it for me. We still do what we always did, go out to eat, see shows etc. The only thing we stopped doing was vacations.

We are bad on a day to day basis, kind of, but I think we've done some 'big picture' things to help save:
1)Got rid of one car - thereby saving his lease payment, insurance payment, and parking sticker! 2)We both take lunch from home 4 days a week and only eat out on the weekends 3) FH moved in with me and is helping with my mortgage payment rather than us both having separate living expenses
Ummmm . . . we save when we can here and there, but otherwise this is how we 'saving' for the moment

monthly we put a set amount into our joint account. we only go out to eat once or twice a month when we used to go at least once a week. we bring lunch to work And we use coupons

we deposit $ into our joint acct we have negotiated w/vendors as much as we can Barely go out and I bring lunch everyday...(fh is pretty bad at packing his lunch though...) i shop at walmart for lots of house stuff and food that can be stored (that place is crazy cheap) oh and i have cut out shopping.... which sux but i rewarded myself last week and got a pair of jeans and shoes... lol
anyway so far so good... i hope

GOOD call on the change thing - we have one of those huge water cooler bottles and we put ALL of our change in it. Only silver change - pennies go in a separate jar. And I have a coin rolling machine (can you believe that one?) - so whenever we need to tap into the change, I park myself on the floor in front of the TV, dump change out, and roll away. I actually enjoy this. It's fun to see how much it adds up! Last time I did it I rolled over $500!
