How do you and how will you...

Not married yet but I think i'll always call them by their first names. Don't want my mom feeling bad.

Yea, that what I thought. But I dont call my mom 'mom' I call her 'mommy' or 'ma' and I dont call my dad 'dad' I call him 'pa' and 'papi' (spanish thing)

I'm assuming after we're married it'll be the same as my FSIL calls them:

Helen and Dad

Don't know why it's not Mom and Dad or Helen and Vinny, but that's what the in-laws wanted!?!?

Funny you asked b/c we went out with some of FHs friends the other night, we all met up at one of his friends house (who are married) & on the way she said to her MIL...'Bye Judy..' & immediately thought about what I would call my in-laws!

I don't think I could call them 'mom' & 'dad'....I'd probably do first names but then again who knows! lol

Yup. And as much as I love my MIL, I can't bring myself to call her mom infront of my 'real' mommy. It's just weird for me.

Yea, I will find that weird. I try to picture it and I dont think I can call FMIL mom in front of my mom either..I just hope they dont take offense if I call them by their first name..see my FMIL calls her MIL mom..so I dont know if she woudl want me to call her that either. To be honest, I completely avoid calling them anything.

I never address them by name. I just look at them and start talking. Anything I could think to call them just feels awkward and they never told me what they want to be called.

That is exactly how I feel. I just look and talk and I just never thought what they would like to be called. We are in the same boat.

I just went through this.....it is a totally personal decision. I personally am calling MIL by first name. I don't feel comfortable calling her MOM.

On the other hand, my FH calls my dad, DAD. You have to do what feels comfortable.

Hehehe. I was like that until they insisted I call them by their first names. Maybe they sensed the weirdness :)
