How do you answer when people ask 'how much are you spending on so/so.'
Hey all...I've come across that question lately with friends, etc. It's fine when I'm discussing price quotes, etc with you ladies, cuz we are all here to help each other but I can't stand when people ask just because they are nosy. How would you answer, if you really don't want to disclose how much you spent on something?

I work for an RH and I actually had a guest call me asking how much the per person were the bride and groom spending per person so he could give the appropriate gift! I lied and said it was $130 per person when it was really $95 per person! I just thought that was so rude to do!

Yeah exactly! I think it's so rude! I mean I don't mind disclosing prices and quotes here cuz the intent is sooo different than nosy ppl...I have married people asking how much I spend on things and its just so weird.
I never asked any of my friends when they are getting married how much they spend on things, I just think if they want to tell me, they can. I usually freeze up when people ask and try to be very vague....

I'm so bad, but I actually give them a higher estimate.

I say 'it costs enough.' And if they ask again I say 'you don't want to know.' And if they say they do I say 'too bad.'!!!!!!!

I haven't been asked this yet. I'd only answer if it was someone else planning a wedding.

OMG! That's horrible that someone actually called to ask that. When people ask me, I just answer 'enough.' They usually get that I'm not into sharing.

I was getting that a lot when I was planning...and even after the wedding. I don't like talking about money and can't stand nosy people, so I would answer them 'enough.' If they continue to pry, I would then get snippy and say something like 'why? are you gonna pay for it?'

I try and change the subject and then if they are persistent, I say 'Ohhh....well, me and my fiance have decided to keep that amongst our selves'. It really is nobody's business and I still can't believe that people actually ask. It's like asking how much you make in a year.....it's a very rude question. Some people are better at wheelin' and dealin', and if they are good at it, they have every right not to reveal what their per person amount is.

I only get upset when people are asking because they want to base their present off it. I think it's so rude to give a present based on what someone paid for a wedding....if someone chooses not to spend a fotune on their wedding why should a friend give them less then someone who spent alot? Not cool......

That is so rude. Information like that is personal and is none of anyone's business.
Just tell them 'enough' and leave it at that. If they push further tell them 'it is my business not yours' Don't cave in to give an answer.
