How do you answer when people ask 'how much are you spending on so/so.'
Original post by HappyPlanner
Hey all...I've come across that question lately with friends, etc. It's fine when I'm discussing price quotes, etc with you ladies, cuz we are all here to help each other but I can't stand when people ask just because they are nosy. How would you answer, if you really don't want to disclose how much you spent on something?

I think it's the same thing with purses. I would feel uncomfortable if someone asked me how much my purse cost, unless it was a fellow purse-loving friend who was inquiring because she was interested in buying. (I used to belong to a purse forum for the same reason -- it's just like LIW)

I know..i guess i have a different way of thinking for my fiance, he says that whats the big deal if you tell good friends, but to me, i'm more private..i don't even discuss salary with anyone other than my FH and family!!!

I don't know where I got this from but I always say 'A couple peso's'. I think I've said euro's before, too lol Not just with wedding stuff but with anything when I really don't think it's necessary to disclose the price.

I usually tell people to check my back for the scar where my kidney used to be....then they can get a rough idea....

you know what I hate..... when people hear that I am getting married on a thursday (July 3rd) they say, 'oh, you must have got a really cheap price'. #1 - RUDE, #2 - we got a BETTER price, not CHEAP!!! Our thursday price is the same as some's Saturday night price. I hate when people say that! Sorry about the vent

We tell people we're not discussing our personal finances.

Within the past 6 month four of our other friend couples have gotten married. When we were all heavily into the planning thing I think the only thing we actually talked about was transportation b/c they can try and rip you off and the prices can be so different for the same service. Anything else was just their/our business and none of us wouldn't have thought to ask.

i always just said 'it cost enough to break the bank'...most people would get the point from that lol. if they were persistant i'd just say 'it doesn't really matter...it costs enough'. people can be so tacky!!!

I haven't gotten that yet...but if a person had the balls to say it to me i would probably say back
' more than your gonna give us as a gift!...so think about that before you right out your check!'
Extremely rude!

It is funny that you asked this. My cousins husband and I were talking about my upcoming wedding this weekend and he and his wife got married at the watermill almost 20 years ago. So he said to me 'If I may be so bold, How much did the watermill bang you for?' I replied enough really, alot...Normally I would tell certain people but after I got stiffed at my shower from his wife, and it was 4 weeks before the wedding I did not think it was an appropriate question to ask. So he was bold but I was not going to tell him. I should have told him 150 pp!

I only answer this question really if someone is planning a wedding-otherwise its a round about ETA: While I think its rude-some people just dont realize what it really costs
